What strikes me that all of AI releases show benchmark percentages but none is giving how many tokens used or how long they were running. 80% != 80%. Details matter

I’m astonished how easy was to set up opencode in GH Actions. One command a few clicks and everything works like charm. Now I can chat with big pickle in my PRs

If you automate this with Linear and Slack. You can shorten time to PR dramatically. Most importantly you don’t commit into any additional AI subscriptions while keeping control of the whole execution env, what MCPs can be used, what agent can and can’t do.

I’m trying to set up a productive ai workflow in nvim. Currently I’m using sidekick with opencode. I was sitting on Avante for a very long time but amount of configuration needed to switch between models was too much. The only thing I’m missing is in place ai editing rn. I guess I have to write it

🚀 A week ago, I joined Tonik’s hackathon with my brother, and in just 24h, we built a working PoC for a NeoVim "Live Share" plugin—despite having almost zero experience with nvim plugins. It was super fun.

3️⃣ Rust async gotchas? As Rust newcomers (more async Rust newcomers), we underestimated how much time we'd spend debugging errors like "cannot move XYZ because Foo doesn't implement Send", where Foo was some deeply nested type. On top of that, most of LLMs didn't know how to fix these issues too.

Despite all this, we got a working plugin! WebSocket-powered, CRDT-backed, and even supporting browser editors. I’ll share the code once it’s cleaned up and a few bugs are ironed out. Stay tuned! ⚡️ #neovim #rustlang #lua #crdt #hacking

1️⃣ Lua ↔ Rust communication? After some trial and error, we ended up spawning a separate process and using NeoVim’s remote API for better isolation. We thought about using nvim-oxi or mlua, but after a few tries to set up it correctly, we backtracked to bulletproof rmp.

2️⃣ Nvim API quirks? Turns out, there's no way to track byte-level changes—only full-line diffs on remote API. Not ideal for real-time collaboration. We had to create a custom event type and send it via a socket from Lua to Rust.

We used Lua + Rust, with CRDT (via the yrs library) under the hood. Nice API, solid Node & Rust support. But, of course, we hit some roadblocks:

Mistral released le chat but I want le avante in my neovim. Anyone tried to set it up with custom provider? How painful it is?

I hit a super weird case. TS fails to infer Playwright types, but when I add one empty line to the test body, everything starts to work again.

AI is great and can speed up most of the coding work. At the same when prompting I always feel that it misses context. Often giving suboptimal answers. That's why sometimes I do work manually instead. Is there a way to improve sharing context with AI? I have a few ideas (none of them tested):

Devin style learning via PRs and comments. This is just a broader case of the History+RAG approach. It can work but requires time and effort. I think it's good for big projects but not for small/medium ones.

Probably there are a lot of other approaches that I'm now aware of. For now I feel that special documentation focused on mental model of project modules and project architecture can improve "0-shot" answers. Supplying this with framework docs should yield better results. Going to test that.

History + RAG, this could work and I think some of the IDEs/tools are doing it already. The biggest issue is that needs to learn gradually based on feedback and the amount of code it seen. That's why it feels like some context is missing.

Was todays years old when learned that clerk middleware silently ignores requests from non browser envs like start-server-and-test. Why? I don’t know

I really like the Supabase+Postgrest+RLS flow of building applications. But by default, the Supabase Anon Key shouldn't be shared publicly in your apps especially when you want to go fast. 1/n

There are just two important parts to make it work: 1. Proxy all Supabase-related cookies to tRPC. This will make auth and RLS work out of the box. 2. Don't use unstable_httpBatchStreamLink for any routes that can update the Supabase user session.

Now, that you have proxied the Supabase access, please don't forget about proper testing and reviewing your SQL code. I love to use pgTAP for that. Writing declarative tests is super rewarding. Especially, when you create custom testing helpers in pg_tle.

Did you spot the issue? Users can modify the whole row so nothing prevents them from editing group_id and granting themselves access to the different groups. With the public Anon key in the browser, you are exposing yourself. It's easy to spot these holes by using Mitmproxy or any other tool.

Ok, now how to hide the key but still use RLSes, PostgREST, and other goodies? Currently, I like to put data access in tRPC and keep all Supabase calls there. This way external users can't mess with the data even though the Supabase endpoint is available publicly.

It's crazy easy to shoot yourself in the foot by making a not-so-great RLS policy that will allow easy unauthorized access to your data. Look at this contrived example:

CREATE POLICY "Users can accept invitations" ON "public"."memberships" FOR UPDATE TO "authenticated" USING ( NOT "private"."is_group_member"("group_id") AND "accepted_at" IS NULL ) WITH CHECK ( "accepted_at" IS NOT NULL AND "user_id" = "auth"."uid"() );

There's no good TOML parser in the JS ecosystem. The best I've found is `iarna/iarna-toml` but it removes comments. I could use Python/Go but I'm tempted to write my own...

Is there an easy way to validate an object with Zod or Valibot using a "best effort" strategy? I want to take all valid keys and ignore the others, preferably logging errors in some handler. The only way I found is to put a fallback/catch on each prop. Anything better?

I was frustrated today that there is no easy solution to generate an ARCHITECTURE file from the existing pnpm repo I created a small helper tool. `npx @tonik/arch-gen` or if you want OpenAI magic `npx @tonik/arch-gen --ai` github.com/tonik/arch-gen

It takes your pnpm workspace analyzes packages and with OpenAI help, it generates a tree, a mermaid diagram, a description, and a tech stack.

Been working on some feature packed boilerplate that will take you a little further in set up than others. One of the features is pre-made e2e fixtures. Once you commit to stack and architecture setting e2e tests becomes very repetitive.

Idea is that instead of writing user session creation, data seeding, client bootstrapping you can just use ready fixtures that will do that for you. Under the hood it’s plain Playwright, Supabase client, faker, and POM architecture. It’s still in the dev but hopefully I can show it soon!

Managed to setup locally and on the cloud Supabase + Payload + Vercel/postgres adapter. I can’t tell you it was a pleasant experience 😓

Do yourself a favor and set up the "Last screenshot" script in Raycast. Maybe it's my chaotic side, but I always forget to capture the screenshot into the clipboard. Flow: Raycast script -> bash -> impbcopy 🎉

You are up to date.
