Yesterday, I joined the Baltimore Chapter of Jack and Jill of America for their teen-led Legislative Summit at Morgan State University. It was all of the things I love: Young people finding what makes their hearts beat a little bit faster and using their voices to help serve others.

Since we rolled out chip-and-tap EBT cards in July, benefit theft is ⬇️ DOWN 71% ⬇️ — meaning fewer Marylanders are having their food and cash assistance stolen. If you have yet to activate your new EBT chip-enabled card, do so immediately to avoid disruption to your benefits.

We’ve CUT our state’s teacher vacancy rate by over over 70% in just four years– and we won’t stop until EVERY vacancy is filled. I want Maryland to have world-class schools, and that starts with supported and uplifted teachers in every classroom. https://bit.ly/4iwwhwZ

I’m grateful for all of our Filipino American community, including the over 70,000 residents of Filipino descent in Maryland, for all they’ve done in service to our country, our state, and the communities they live in. We’re a stronger, safer, and more vibrant place because of you.

Our administration’s guiding principle is ensuring the safety and dignity of every Marylander. We protect our people, and nowhere is that mission more imperative than on our State’s college campuses.

Today, I announced a new initiative to provide fathers with resources and mentorship so they can strengthen family connections, support their kids’ mental health, and help their kids succeed in school.

Today, I directed our Department of Juvenile Services to work in coordination with our law enforcement agencies and other state and local agencies to launch an immediate and targeted intervention to address youth-involved car thefts, including in Montgomery County and Baltimore City.

Maryland’s farmers and farm workers keep our economy and communities going. On National Farmer’s Day, we thank them for all the work they’ve done for our communities. 🌾

On Indigenous People’s Day, we honor the indigenous communities who have helped shape Maryland, from Mountain Maryland to the Eastern Shore. We must continue to tell the truth about our history, including the hard parts, in order to build a future for every Marylander.

Maryland’s very own Reid Wiseman served as mission commander for NASA’s Artemis II and is an outstanding role model for everyone to look up to. Captain Wiseman, thank you for your service to our country. Happy to share some Cantler’s crabs with you anytime 🚀 https://youtu.be/HXdECcVwNhI

In the face of rising fuel prices nationwide in the middle of harvest season, I’ve signed an executive order allowing Maryland farm and forest haulers to temporarily use dyed diesel on state roads and to haul heavier loads.

Our agricultural and forestry sectors are the bedrock of our state’s economy, and we’re dedicated to supporting our farmers and loggers as industry costs nationwide squeeze them. More details about this executive order here: go.md.gov/DieselEO

Commander Wiseman’s a true Marylander and the epitome of what it means to be a public servant. Really glad he was able to join me at Cantler’s for some crabs and to talk about his mission on Artemis II, what it takes to serve your country, and what service has meant in his life.

We just announced the state's largest private investment in over a DECADE, bringing Anduril to Baltimore County. This project will drive BILLIONS of dollars in economic activity, strengthening Maryland families throughout the state and putting thousands on a path to jobs in maritime manufacturing.
