Unfurling

The short season of the Black Morchella morel means that this is probably the last one I’ll find this year. By next weekend they’ll be gone. #morel #mushrooms #fungifriends

We’ve never found more than two types of morels together. Their seasons are short and don’t have lots of overlap. Today was the exception. We found yellows (pictured), morchellas and half frees all in one morning. It’s a first for me! #morel #fungifriends #mushrooms

Trillium and Mayapples covered large sections of the forest floor. Together with the Dutchman’s Breeches, Trout Lilies, and Shooting Stars they were putting on a spectacular display.

Today’s hike in the woods was wonderful in many ways. I was with 3 of my favorite humans as well as my Lola. The spring ephemerals were absolutely delightful. It was sunny and warm. And finding lots of these topped off the day. They’ll be delicious.

This one makes me happy

It was a good day to walk in the woods. No morels yet but plenty of Virginia Bluebells, Trout Lily, Dutchman’s Breeches, and Red Trillium among other spring ephemerals.

In bed and I need to straighten my leg because it’s starting to cramp. I can’t do that because I’ll disturb my dog, Lola, who is asleep against said leg. Guess my leg’s going to have to deal with the cramp. 🤷🏼‍♀️
