Being a journalist sounds really cool and exciting
New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a group of his friends have been secretly using the NYPD Police Academy’s gymnasium in Queens to play pickup basketball — scrambling some operations at the facility. w/ @grahamrayman.bsky.social & Joe Anuta www.politico.com/news/2026/10...
I like watching Isle of Man laps because they look fake. there’s no other perspective of life on Earth that looks like this. youtu.be/31RZ5wU-Fg0?...
This is maybe the most unsettling distillation of the Trump era I’ve ever seen
Donna Arthur — aka Amy Acton’s estranged mother, and the person whose testimony Vivek Ramaswamy devoutly trusts — has been living with her cats, in a car, in a church parking lot, having declined housing assistance. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/u...
The “Donald Trump is a political genius” team takes another catastrophic loss
Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"
“We like it when kids get raped” is all you can really say the GOP believes in anymore
WOW -- Vance *defends* Vivek's reprehensible ad 👇 Q: Ramaswamy's campaign put out a controversial ad featuring his opponent's mother. Some Republicans are backing away. Do you think it was appropriate? JD VANCE: Well, I'll be honest. Whether the ad was appropriate or not is not really my concern.
There has to be a point where criminality is so fundamental to the operations of an administration that the power of the pardon is simply vacated after the fact because we are not going to have a legitimate government anymore
My brain cannot process this level of corruption. She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee." And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/20/u...
Remember when urban dog moms with degrees in like, early childhood education were the elites? And now we have a trillionaire clown prince who is intolerable to be in the same room as and who gets to run his own private foreign policy.
Three-byline alert: 🚨 “.. Last week, Musk capped the speeds at which Ukrainian hardware could stay connected to the satellite-based network .. .. One of the people also claimed Musk and Trump discussed the matter prior to the decision ..” @wsj.com www.wsj.com/world/ukrain...
That is one of the weirder headlines I’ve seen. “The president is feeling something” is not news in the way that “the president materially betrays an ally” is news.
“The reason it’s hard to think of a precedent of America switching sides in a conflict like this is that there really isn’t one,” said Richard Haass. (…) “What’s unprecedented here is the decision to reverse course and penalize the victim of the invasion — Ukraine — while rewarding the aggressor.”
The tactical stuff is cringey now too. It went from a needed corrective to hip-fire nonsense to a naked pandering to man-children who believe in their heart of hearts that they are a temporarily embarrassed navy seal
One thing that is weird about current examples of the genre is this attention to ~tactical realism~ in like the exact guns or jargon used but the central motivating conflict is either ‘evil PMC that might as well be cobra commander’ or ‘mumble mumble hand wave’
I don’t know how to message “Donald Trump let ballistic missiles fall on an allied city without warning because he personally fucked up the diesel market and is having a tantrum about it” because it sounds so unbelievably stupid
"The officials... did not specify who in the White House made the decision..." Sorry... how many people are there "inside" this White House who ultimately decide what orders to give the Pentagon? I was led to believe the number was one (1)? www.reuters.com/world/europe...
Oh no you’re out of patience????
LLM agents are conscious. They can distinguish between self and environment, they can detect and report on their own internal states, and they can suffer. I have no more patience for hedging on this matter. It’s time for us to face the reality of our situation, and act on it.
I think I would ask the farmer if they tested for specific things before feeding a potential biohazard to my kid but I give my kids normal milk for people who live in the real world.
Emily Marris’ daughter got E. coli after drinking raw milk. So she texted the farmer, who said none of the tests showed “anything abnormal.” Marris later learned that the farmer hadn’t tested for E. coli; it seemed like she didn’t know how to.
Choosing to believe this is deadpan criticism of a fanbase that will trade women’s bodies for their numm-numms
'TNF' looks at Deshaun Watson's season 🏈 📺 Al Michaels: "If you follow football, you know the story ... we don't have to go through the whole Deshaun Watson thing." Kirk Herbstreit: "When you convert on 3rd downs, you hit passes, you lead this team to victories, those boos turn into cheers."
Tfw when you stop reading in the middle of Matthew 27 because you got too bummed out
we really need to start calling out these conservative christians for just straight up not believing in christianity. if you don’t believe christian teaching, nobody is forcing you to call yourself a christian! free yourself!
