A new Director of Football will likely want a new head coach to work with. So if Utd are planning to replace Wilcox in the coming months then there's no point replacing Carrick with a permanent manager. That means sticking with Carrick for a bit, or going for a short term appointment like Conte.

My son's first match at Old Trafford was Carrick's last. The loss and Bruno's absence didn't dent his excitement but he did get a bit upset when Carrick was waving goodbye. He soon got over and is all set to go again soon. Hope Carrick feels the same way - he's a class act.

It would not surprise me if Carrick has agreed to be the interim manager until the club find a new permanent coach. He might be there for Chelsea away next week but he expects the new manager to be installed before Roma at home.

Pre-match press conferences used to drum up interest in the next match, but now they are actually the content/product. The next premier league TV deal will have managers doing a 30 minutes interview exclusively with Sky the night before the game.

I was picking my grandson up from school. I met a woman I've not seen in years. She asked me what I was doing. I said I'm picking my grandson up. Oh really, what year is he in? I said 2026

Statistically there must be at least one person out there who called for Carrick to be sacked yesterday, but today got sacked from their own job. Not sure why I take pleasure in this. I'm a terrible human.

The first and most obvious change Utd need to make is binning off that ivory kit. It's clearly cursed and fucks with the players heads and maybe their souls too. The second change is slimming down those massive white strips on the home kit. Then in the background I'd be entering talks with Umbro.

I don't know how to pronounce Le Creuset because I am working class. If you know how to pronounce Le Creuset then you are middle class. And if you own any of their products then you are nouveau riche.

Sorry everyone I've got very low energy today and I suspect this will rub off on the squad even though they are in another country. It's my fault if we lose, please don't blame Michael Carrick.

Most Utd fans won't like hearing this but that's a good result for us. We went into the match as underdogs, put in a plucky spirited performance, and stole a point. We might not like our reality at the moment, but it is reality nonetheless.

Is there anything worth watching on Apple TV? I've got a feeling the new series of Slow Horses is going to be a let down so I'm looking for something else to justify getting a one month subscription.

We live in age of wonderful scientific and engineering advancements, yet it's still dark at 7am during autumn and winter. They really ought to come up with something other than just winding the clocks back an hour.

A football manager is just one part of a big complex system. Yet the media and social media still pedal the ridiculously simple narrative of "team bad, must sack manager". It baffles me. It's like humans are somehow programmed to reject complexity.
