I am not sure if I'd call myself an artist. I make things. With wood. No two pieces are the same. I make pieces that speak to me, and if they also speak to you, even better.

Got to Greenville, SC. Gonna be a few days of very early mornings and long days. Whoever invented this working for a living thing is not my friend.

Present for my daughter. She's totally into FNAF. Now she can charge her phone at her nightstand "in style" and look at Freddy when she's using it.

Today's phone stand. I think I landed on the final dimensions. Extended the cutout bu a little for a better angle. Like it the way it feels. With 3x3.5 inches it isn't so small that it's wobbly, but also not massive. Nice office desk piece. Now a little sanding and a coat of protection.

Phone stand for my daughter. Tried them a little bigger. Need a slightly thinner board, but the size is better for burning. Perfect? No. My pieces are like me and the world around us. Full of small blemishes and imperfections. Just the way I like it.

Chat with the neighbor. N: Hey, that's cool. You could sell those. Me: Probably. N: How many of those can you make a day? Me: No idea. Make them as I like by hand. N: You need to buy machines so you can pump out 50 or so a day. Me: Yeah, that ain't happening. Neighbor: Why not?

Me: Because I make this stuff to clear my mind and find peace. It's my refuge from the daily grind madness. The moment I turn this into manufacturing shit, it loses its fun and purpose. If, and thats a big if, I sell my stuff, I'll sell what I have when I have it. N: Can you make me one? Me: Sure.

I've worked 46 hours for the corporate world this week, so I am making this a short day. Off to the workshop. Have a great weekend, y'all!

I'll do a giveaway of one of my little phone stands. Will be traveling all next week, so I will pick a winner next week on Friday and make it over the weekend. Tell me what tiny creature you want on it and you might get a handmade little gadget for free.

Working with wood is therapeutic for me. My day job is high stress, fast moving, and emergency rich. Woodworking slows everything down. Every cut matters. Slow, deliberate, and thoughtfull is the pace. Without it, I might have gone nuts already.

Madrid a little phone stand from some scrap wood I had. Learned to never use pine for anything related to woodburning again. Kid still liked it, though. Overall win.

Project "gift for a teenager" is coming along nicely. I will need better tools at some point as I make more stuff. Picture of finished piece likely tomorrow or Friday.

Going to start working on my next piece. Will be a gift for a teenager who is totally into 5 nights at Freddy's. Should also be practical. And cool, of course. Wish me luck.

I think I'll start this weekend a couple of hours early. Georgia Blue is waiting for my attention, and I want to finish this piece this weekend.

Got asked a few times if I'd sell my carvings. Not yet. I just started doing this and there's a lot more I need to learn before I feel I can take money for the stuff I make. One day, maybe.

I made this piece as a reminder to myself. Especially in times when those words seem so distant, it is important to remember them, live by them, embody them.

You are up to date.
