Today is #WorldFoodDay! To celebrate, we would like to highlight 2 orgs that we supported through our #LivingCitiesCanada Fund: Hope Blooms Halifax & the Black Environmental Initiative. Both are instrumental in their communities for access to healthy, affordable, + local food. 🍂 #WorldFoodDay 1/3

Hope Blooms, in Halifax, NS, is a non-profit social enterprise offering educational programming for youth in gardening, culinary arts, + a farmers’ market with local foods. Last year, GCC + Hope Blooms hosted a #NationalTreeDay tree planting event! 📷 Carolina Andrade #WorldFoodDay 2/3

The non-profit Black Environmental Initiative educates the black community on environmentalism + food justice. This year, BEI ran weekly urban agriculture workshops for Black youth, covering topics such as planting, composting, food preservation, and more. 📷 Muzamil Gadain #WorldFoodDay 3/3
