I cannot imagine not having PBS available. When I was a kid, we had two channels: AETN (as it was known at the time) and the local ABC affiliate. I grew up with Sesame Street, Electric Company, 321 Contact, Doctor Who, and more. (1/3)

During the pandemic, @ArkansasPBS was an incredible resource and essential viewing for our young daughter, not yet in school at the time. Sesame Street, Wildcrats, Esme and Roy, Arthur, Elinor Wonders Why, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood…. (2/3)

Potato soup on the stove. Fire in the fireplace. Cold beer in hand. Bears-Packers on the TV, and Green Bay’s up by 11. My guy won the F1 title this morning. Not a bad Sunday.

Good evening.

JUST IN: Democrats have flipped the mayor's office in Roswell, Georgia, in tonight's runoff. GOP Mayor Kurt Wilson conceded earlier tonight to Mary Robichaux, the Dem challenging him. (This is a city in the Atlanta suburbs, the 9th most populous city in Georgia.)

Almost let this one get away: Happy birthday to my friend, former House colleague, one-time seatmate, and the guy who always knows what’s going on, the inimitable David Branscum.

I can’t even begin to imagine the meltdown and screaming chyrons and endless, red-faced pundits had President Obama accused Republican lawmakers of “seditious behavior, punishable by death,” but that’s, like, just a Tuesday morning under this guy. (Or a Thursday, whatever.)

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The Chicago Bears of Chicago—at least until the end of the day—are in sole possession of first place in the NFC North. Green Bay today struggled against the 2-8 Giants. I am not well.

I’d like to take a moment to congratulate Representative Denise Garner, who, as of close of filing at noon today, is unopposed in her bid for the Senate seat I’ve had the honor of serving since 2019. Congratulations, Representative Garner.

Good afternoon.

NEW: Jeffrey Epstein said in emails that he had been advising the Russian government on how to deal with Donald Trump, one of several cases in which he wielded his connections to try to influence the course of foreign affairs. w @nahaltoosi www.politico.com/news/2025/11...

Rep. Adelita Grijalva said two victims of Epstein's abuse were in the gallery to watch her be sworn in: Elizabeth Stein and Jessica Michaels.   "Justice cannot wait another day," she said, referencing the Epstein files discharge petition.

Fourth Hero Half Marathon in the books. Not sure why I don’t run it every year. Not my best time, not my worst. Better than I’d thought I’d be able to pull off going in. Finished fourth in my division, 84th out 328 overall. Thanks to all the volunteers, the Spark Foundation, and IAFF Local 2866.

I agree last night’s success shouldn’t be taken as a sign of what will happen here (or anywhere) in 2026, but it’s definitely an indictment of this administration and the Republican brand at the moment. As for the DPA, they do what they can with the resources they have. (1/2)

It’s hard to ever imagine that happening in Arkansas with the current condition of the state Democratic Party that barely supports its candidates

Tuesday night saw: – Mississippi Democrats flip two Senate seats, breaking the GOP supermajority. – Democrats win two statewide public service commission races in Georgia. – Pennsylvania vote to retain three Democratic justices, preserving the PA Supreme Court's 5-2 majority. (1/4)

– Democrats in mayoral races in Pittsburgh and Buffalo. – A Democrat beat a Republican (who happens to be VP Vance's half-brother) to become mayor of Cincinnati. – Maine voters overwhelmingly defeated a ballot measure to ban mail-in voting. – CA voters approve Prop 50. (3/4)

On Tuesday, Democrats across the spectrum—from Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger in Virginia to Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani in New York City and all points between—win races. Voters upset with both parties broke toward Democrats—meaning the party still has a lot of work to do to keep them. (4/4)

– Democrats win gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey; in VA, they also won races for lieutenant governor and attorney general and gained 13 seats in the House; in NJ, they also won a supermajority in the NJ Assembly. – Every single county in Virginia shift to the left. (2/4)

The push to feed people isn’t exclusively partisan. At least 62 senators, including 15 Republicans, want to extend SNAP benefits through the federal government shutdown.

Senator Bernie Sanders@sanders.senate.gov

15 Republican senators have now joined all 47 members of the Democratic caucus on legislation to extend SNAP benefits during the shutdown. In all, 62 senators are on this bill. I say to Majority Leader Thune: Don't let kids go hungry in America. Call a vote on this bill NOW!

Among the 24 million Americans who could see their health care premiums skyrocket should the ACA subsidies expire are farmers, ranchers, small-business owners, and the self-employed. Senate Democrats don't want the subsidies to expire.

The number for the US Capitol switchboard is (202) 224-3121. That's an easy way to reach your two senators and your US House member. When you need to reach your state lawmakers, and you aren't sure what to do, there's a guide for that: gregleding.com/guide #ARpx

gregleding.comDetermined Constituent Guide — Greg Leding | Arkansas SenateThe 2025 Determined Constituent Guide includes information about the Arkansas State Capitol, how best to contact lawmakers, information specific to this year's fiscal session, and more.

I'm grateful to people who take the time to contact their elected officials. A couple of things: 1. I have no role in the federal government shutdown. 2. The number for the U.S. Capitol switchboard is (202) 224-3121. 3. Republicans control both Congress and the White House.

Our governor and secretary of state are appealing the judge’s ruling. This overwhelmingly-Republican Senate district deserves representation. Our Republican-led Senate deserves full membership. I hope Republican voters remember this. #ARpx

A judge has ruled in favor of Colt Shelby in his lawsuit against Governor Sanders. Shelby sued the governor after she set a special election to fill Senate District 26, the seat left vacant by Senator Gary Stubblefield's passing, for next June. (1/2)

By setting the special election for next June, the governor left SD26 without representation for the next eight-plus months, a period that includes next April's fiscal session. Whatever the party, whatever the district, seats should be filled as promptly as possible. (2/2)

Democrats in Congress want to keep ACA subsidies in place to keep health care costs from rising for more than 20 million Americans—and a lot of Republican and independent voters agree with them. Democrats also want to reverse cuts made to Medicaid to fund the Big Beautiful Bill.

KFF@kff.org

New KFF polling shows 78% of the public say Congress should extend the ACA’s enhanced premium tax credits, which otherwise would expire at the end of the year. That includes most Republicans and MAGA supporters. https://on.kff.org/4q7ElGy

I know our governor made an exceedingly rare course correction when she moved the special election up a few months, but she’s still in violation of the law, and the people of Senate District 26—and my former colleague—deserve more respect. #ARpx (1/2)

Arkansas Times@arktimes.bsky.social

The daughter of late State Sen. Gary Stubblefield, who died earlier this month, says Gov. Sanders' plan to hold the special election to fill his seat after the fiscal session is disrespectful to her father's legacy and unfair to residents of the district.

And my anger here isn’t partisan; there’s essentially zero chance this district elects a Democratic lawmaker. But that doesn’t matter. Those Arkansas deserve a voice in the Senate. The Senate deserves full membership. And I hope more colleagues speak out on this. #ARleg (2/2)
