Once again, Carrie Tait doing some great journalism. Local news in Alberta can't or won't do this level of investigative reporting.

This is not out of the question: Trump blames his impending loss on Canada. Crazy notion at any other time in the last 200 years.

Looks like the Trump administration is setting up a pretext for future retaliation against Canada by redefining legitimate political criticism, economic countermeasures and public advocacy as “election interference.” www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

"Enough already". Well said. Fawcett is one of the few who has consistently called out the fictitious core of the separatist argument.

The separatists are going to lose today’s vote. But if Alberta’s political class doesn’t stop feeding and inflaming their bottomless sense of grievance and victimhood, we’ll all end up losing in the end. #abpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/10/19/o...

I'm still amazed that the President of the U.S. can just publicly spout utter nonsense and the general population doesn't bat an eye. Lesson for future leaders: just lie incessantly...there's no political consequence.

Interesting and timely new initiative by The Walrus and Friends of Canadian Media.

big news in Calgary tonight.

This by-election in Calgary’s deep suburbs, in a seat UCP won last time by 14%, had potential to become either a clear warning about Danielle Smith and referendum politics in urban Alberta, or about the NDP leadership of Naheed Nenshi. And well whaddya know. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

"By walking away, Mr. Carney chose a road that no major U.S. ally has taken: With his country’s economy on the line, he stood up to President Trump and refused to accept the administration’s offer of a new trade relationship with tariffs permanently baked in." www.nytimes.com/2026/08/22/w...

nytimes.comCarney Stands Up to Trump in U.S.-Canada Trade WarCanada’s prime minister walked away from what he thought was a bad trade deal with the United States. Many Canadians are behind him, but it will be costly.

"Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada said in a statement that it had been the American side that introduced last-minute terms that were “unfair, uneconomic, and called into question the reliability of any deal.”" Here's hoping these details are leaked by morning. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/21/w...

If it is in your musical alley, and even if it isn't, I suggest giving a listen to "Were the Watchtowers" by Richard Parry of Arcade Fire and the late great Dallas Good of the Sadies. Lovely send off to a great Canadian musical artist who left us far too soon.
