gutted for a young Somerset side with 6 who were playing academy cricket 2 seasons ago almost getting over the line against a vastly more experienced Surrey side with none in comparison, great shame as they deserve a shot at a final after their season, the future is bright.

interesting from Lauren W-Hill on the Wisden podcast re the County Cup as a developement comp, my thought is for Tier 2/3 Counties to play rounds of eliminators reducing them to 8 sides, then during the 100 they join the 8 tier 1 sides in 2x8 team round robin leagues where with a 1st v 1st final

i get Lotties thinking re Capsey and keeping but it shows how little she thinks of specialist keeper/batters that a total novice at senior level can keep for Eng, if she was regularly scoring runs maybe but she isn’t and that’s with nearly 100 caps and 4 years in the Eng set up,she’s a lucky girl

The lack of a live feed from fixtures involving tier 1 women’s sides is unforgivable…if outgrounds cannot provide it then don’t play there or spend the money to make sure it happens, a £1000 fine for any tier 1 county not providing it in any home fixture across all 3 comps might focus the mind.

Sophia Dunkley is not playing in the Blast Finals for Surrey as she is “managing her workloads” according to ECB, she’s not played cricket since the 27th June, how utterly ridiculous

so, according to Gareth Barry, the reason that Surrey Men didn’t win the championship was “we didn’t get the same prep pre season because of infrastructure and couldn’t get the time we required so started slower”…. for infrastructure you can assume he means the women’s team… seriously!

i c Gongadi Trisha has just been given circa £100,000 for being top run scorer in U19 World Cup, how to compete with that? it’s difficult to argue against India being the dominant women’s team within 5 years given the talent on show at last 2 U19 WCups..this years side had 5 WPL players.

Ireland’s U19 World Cup squad. Interesting that Hunter, Maguire, Sargent and Tector named given they are Senior squad regulars whose tour of India finishes on Weds 15th Jan with an ODI…their first U19 cup game v England is on Sat 18th in Malaysia

is Sophia Dunkley really now still one of the best we’ve got, nick’s off again playing a nothing shot, to a ball she should be leaving with her feet to the spot…there has to be better options than her?

You are up to date.
