That last episode of #Severance was incredible. Holy fuck.

Just watched an excellent video on YouTube about how Elon Musk doesn't understand Cyberpunk. Unfortunately I was totally waylaid about 15 minutes in when a clip was shown of him saying that Twitter's AI, Grok, is 'modelled after The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. What... what does that MEAN?

Does he mean that it's more generally based on the ideas contained within the book (he refers to it as a single book btw, not a five-part trilogy)? So... he (his engineers) based his (see above) AI on a book that thinks things shouldn't really have sentience shoved into them? That seems odd.

He does say something about how 'we don't know the meaning of life, but we can develop consciousness to keep asking more questions' and that's... has he read any of the books? He says 'it's a book of philosophy disguised as a book of humour' and I swear I heard the ghost of Douglas Adams chuckle

Does he mean that the AI was based on the fictional travel guide/encyclopedia? Does he think that the Guide is AI? There are many things in H2G2 that are AI, mostly doors and drinks machines and plastic pals who are fun to be with, but the Guide is written by contributors. It has editors.
