Do you remember the work of oCd Disco? His most famous map is probably the Temple of Notch, but he also made many others. The original downloads are not available anymore, but all of them have at least one archived version. So, check them out! wiki.floatingtrees.stary.pc.pl/wiki/OCd_Dis...

In 2010, Notch was in the US for a business meeting. He had a day off, so he said that if Minecraft fans organize an event, he would attend it. This is how MinecraftCon 2010 happened, in a park during bad weather.

In 2011, a redditor going by scurrilous_ said 'hi' in reply to a comment by Notch. In a reply, Notch linked an unlisted video, "Hi scurrilous_!", in which he replied to the greeting. No copies of this video are known to exist. wiki.floatingtrees.stary.pc.pl/wiki/Hi_scur...

You probably recognize the first image, but did you know that Murshtin, it's author, has made 28 other Minecraft wallpapers? All of these are his work! While Imgur has deleted the images, they have been archived, and you can see all of them on our wiki: wiki.floatingtrees.stary.pc.pl/wiki/Murshti...

We're Floating Trees, a community dedicated to preserving media related to Minecraft and other block games. We'll be trying to post here from now on, so follow us for interesting (in our opinion, at least) facts about both lost and found media!

We got it! 1 000 000 signatures under the #StopKillingGames EU Initiative! But do NOT assume this is the end. Your signature might very well still matter - we don't know how many are invalid. Let's aim for 1 500 000! Sign here: eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#...

In 2011, Mojang collaborated with The Lego Group to develop a Lego game. It was cancelled in 2012 because Mojang was fed up with Lego's lawyers, and never saw the light of day. But now it's been found by the amazing crew @omniarchive.uk! Download it here vault.omniarchive.uk/archive/misc...

Great news, the #StopKillingGames UK petition has reached the threshold! We still need more signatures on the EU Initiative. It's at 867 647 signatures as of me writing this, we're doing it! Sign here: eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#...

I should never do bounties again

Steam just removed older versions of games for their entire catalog. This is horrible news for archivists, speedrunners and modders alike.

sweeping platform changes that are antithetical to game preservation is bad actually. one of the pros of Steam for me for so long was that you *could* download older versions of games, even if it was roundabout. an objectively pro-consumer thing (modders?!? hello?!) so why did they get rid of it..?

Hello, world!
