Anti-abortion states have always imposed unjust restrictions, like forced waiting periods and TRAP laws. Dobbs supercharged that trend, as our Guttmacher expert @imaddowzimet.bsky.social told @rewirenewsgroup.com, reshaping abortion access and patterns of travel for care nationwide.

gu.ttNevada's Abortion Landscape is Changing As Midterms Ballot Measure NearsNevada became a regional hub for abortion care after Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022--but the trend is reversing. We asked experts why fewer out-of-state patients are coming to the Silver State.

It is no surprise that the FDA is delaying their safety review of mifepristone until March 2027. This review is a political exercise to appease anti-abortion advocates and policymakers. The facts remain the same: Mifepristone is safe, effective and essential.

gu.ttFDA says it will complete safety review of abortion pill in MarchA federal judge in Louisiana ordered the FDA to provide an update on its safety study as part of a lawsuit seeking to overturn a provision allowing mifepristone to be delivered by mail.

50 years ago, Congress first enacted the Hyde Amendment—blocking federal Medicaid funding from covering abortion. This racist & coercive policy falls hardest on people with low incomes, Black, Indigenous & other people of color. Hyde must end now. Get the facts: https://gu.tt/3XTwksI #Hyde50

Today marks 26 years since mifepristone was approved by the FDA. This safe and effective medication has made it possible for millions of people in the US to get abortion care on their own terms, including through telehealth. We must #ProtectAbortionMeds and ensure access for all!

Thank you Sen. @murray.senate.gov for introducing the Affordability Is Access Act to require coverage of OTC contraception without cost sharing. This bill could be transformative—including for millions of women who need low- or no-cost birth control, but live in communities without adequate access.

The science is clear: medication abortion is safe, effective, and proven. Medical decisions should be left up to patients and their providers, not lawmakers or politicians. #ProtectAbortionMeds

21.4 million women in need of low- or no-cost birth control live in a contraceptive access gap, according to new data from Guttmacher & @powertodecide.bsky.social. The findings paint a stark picture of the reality of birth control access as #ReproHealth & rights face growing threats. @selenasd.com

On September 9, arguments will be held in Louisiana v. FDA—a baseless case targeting mifepristone. Access to mife will not change until the case makes its way back to SCOTUS, but the eventual outcome could bring the most dramatic change to #AbortionAccess since Dobbs. More: https://gu.tt/42VEcff

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Gloria Steinem, a fierce champion of reproductive health and rights. We will never stop working toward the vision she carried of liberation and justice for all.

Guttmacher reposted

Thank you, Gloria, for fighting to make this world a better place for women and LGBTQ+ people — at work, at home, and in every community. May her memory be a blessing.

Guttmacher reposted

Gloria Steinem did not simply make history. She inspired generations of women to follow their own paths and fight for their right to be in the room. She deeply understood that you need to start by changing culture in order to change policy—and that women will always be the engine behind that change.
