Garment workers in the Dhaka area who lose time in a hot week lose about 1.3 days on average. A day costs about 250–300 taka on average; for some, close to a full day’s wage. What will this week’s heat cost workers? Check out our Weather & Work Tracker system.globalwd.org/tracker-weat...

October has been unusually hot this year in Dhaka. GWD's new tracker linking weather and work reveals its cost to workers: about 480,000 workers will miss a day of work this week due to excess heat. Some will lose a full day's pay of around 490 taka (about $4) and some will lose less.

GWD just launched a new initiative we are calling the Worker Intelligence System. It's our effort to bring the voice of workers in global supply chains into conversations that directly affect them. I encourage you to take a look for yourselves.

One degree. About 160,000 working days. That's our estimate of what a week just 1°C hotter than usual costs workers and employers in the Dhaka area. From GWD's new Worker Intelligence System: what workers tell us, plus outside data. What do you want to know? system.globalwd.org/index.html?u...

I just rode between Western avenue and the BU Bridge on the Cambridge side. 28 years I have ridden my bike that route and not one repair to the bike path. In those 28 years we have managed to build the Somerville path from near downtown to davis square and so many other infrastructure projects.

Watching the Morocco v Brazil pregame. As an immigrant from the uk I love the all-American commentary team talking knowledgeably about the teams with great American enthusiasm, without the over the top antics of Alexis lalas.

Here's the link to the story from the Daily Star www.thedailystar.net/news/banglad...

One of the consequences of this stupid war is that migrants traveling to the middle east to work are stuck in Bangladesh. The consequences can be economically devastating for families that rely on migrants' remittances.

To get a sense of how badly this might go, look at what happened in the UK when a private contractor installed a new IT system to track payments through the UK post office network. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...
