This Life is on BBC4. It looks dated as FUCK. I loved it back in *googles* 1996. shit, 30 years I guess that's why it's on. I was in love with Egg. The picture even has black bars each side because TVs were a different shape then. Wild. #thislife

The fact a friend of mine is selling his house and the buyer has had to pull out because her cat is sick and the vet bills are so high that she can no longer afford to buy a house is a true indictment of this economy.

It is SO weirdly embarrassing and shameful that I'm watching very serious news presenters talk about the syphilitic ramblings of a child fucking war mongerer.

I wish the job of tea lady still existed. I'd love to be a tea lady. Can you imagine, a nice little pinnie, trolly with the urn on it. Selection of biscuits to offer to all the burly factory workers. Best job ever.

I am sooo fucking lucky I fixed my energy prices for 12 months a week ago. Renewable energy is the only way we become a truly independent nation and not be trapped in this petrodollar hell.

I don't know if it's because they're from New Zealand and they taste different or because the ratio of malt ball and chocolate coating is off because of the EXTRA CHOC but these aren't giving me as much joy as the standard malteser

Been in this new house a year so thought I'd shop around for a new energy supplier. From £230 a month with EDF to £150 with Octopus?! Shop around kids, you could save a fortune.

I found my favourite chocolate in New Zealand with EXTRA CHOCOLATE WTF I haven't tried them yet but if they're good, and I think they will be, I'll start a letter writing campaign to get them released here.

I am reading the guardian article about this book. It's quite disturbing that while I read, the embedded ads are for mattresses and bras for larger women.

I just finished @manongarcia.bsky.social's Living with Men. I highly recommend, though it's disturbing and challenging stuff. What it captures, and refuses to dispel, is a sense of being genuinely adrift if you refuse to flinch from what you on some level know must be true of many men around you.

My abiding takeaways whenever I return to the UK are: We have shit airports compared to everywhere else. Just a never ending series of drab gray corridors. And the total cultural inability to have a clean and fresh smelling public toilet.

In Auckland airport killing time ubtll the 1am flight. It's virtually empty, quite surreal. I've tried on all the sunglasses and I smell like some kind of sexy Tom Ford fig.

Update: I was 95.3 kg. She told me to take my coat off and go for a wee. 95.1kg. "ok, I'll let you on but tell NOBODY of this."

Bedtime in New Zealand. I'm going to bed now so I can wake up in the morning to likely be told that I'm too fat to go on the horse riding I booked. The limit is 95kg, I was 94 when I left but I've have a lovely 2 weeks of drinking and eating.

Just deleted tiktok. It's almost like my algorithm changed overnight? Suddenly showing me right wing bullshit and weird conspiracy theories. Totally different from my usual feed of interesting historical and scientific facts and hot men wrestling.

The robot from my favourite #studioGhibli film, #Laputa the flying island. I taped it off the TV in the early 90s so I had it on VHS and watched it innumerable times. Then things digitised and I lost it. 1/3

When It appeared again on Netflix I was so excited, but the dub was a newer, Disney version which I hated. It didn't push any of the old nostalgia buttons. So I went on a mission to find the dub I craved. 2/3

It was a version dubbed into English in the late 80s for JAL Japanese airlines, before Disney bought the rights and redubbed it with famous people. I eventually found a rare Japanese DVD of it which had that original dub. Nostalgia is a powerful motivator. 3/3

If fois gras is made by force-feeding geese until they are obese and have fatty livers, would it be ethical if we bred really greedy geese so they're not force fed they just really love eating.
