What is 'art'? Art (noun): person, place or thing. Thing. Not all paintings are art. Singing or dancing can be art, but not always. Art evokes feelings in a recipient. A sunset does too and is not art. Art is: the artist evoking the spirit in a recipient. And art must be received. Art is a quantum.

My (not) Begonia 'Pink Urchin', gifted to me by Al Palacio in Fort Worth Texas, three weeks ago, during the American Begonia Society annual meeting, is blooming pink 🩷 and pushing out new fuzzy pink leaves. #Begonias

This 6 inch sculptural plaque, decorated with an ancient facial painting emblem called: 'Goose Head', I sculpted using gypsum cement, pine rosin, wax and hand made paints composed of ground pigments and hand refined flax seed oil.

My #Begonia masoniana has just started to bloom. Notice the separate male and female parts of the flowers.

My studio right now. Here are seven different exotic species of #begonia that, in the wild, are native clinging to cliffs near waterfalls. I've rigged up a small water pump to dribble an endless cycle of water dripping down. Illuminated by 6,000 Lux of LED lighting. Making for happy plants.

Here's a big face I sculpted

My #Begonia maculata is beginning to settle in.

My garden is a jungle.

A recurring theme in my art is the universality of shoulder and hip joints (being containers for spirits). Virtually every animal shares this trait, from birds to whales. The four eyes symbolize, top being shoulder joints, bottom being hips, central face being their contained spirit. It's universal.

Sure looks healthy! I grabbed a piece of moss from a crack in the sidewalk and then kept it moist, warm and illuminated for a month.
