Hammy Havoc

Late for Pride, but All Walls Must Fall, a game I composed some interactive procedurally mixed music for, is now forever free on Steam and @itch.io! Also still available cheaply on Nintendo Switch. It's über gay and we're über proud of that. Enjoy! 🏳️‍🌈 hammyhavoc.com/work-walls-m...

My wonderful friend Ted Fletcher has very sadly passed away. Ted was the founder of Alice, JoeMeek, tfpro, Orbitsound and Airsound. He will be sorely missed. I'm still processing the news. I shared some anecdotes and reflections: hammyhavoc.com/remembering-...

The long-awaited follow-up to my article "How The Games Industry Hurts People". A tale of trauma, healing, and finding your way back. If you've ever been burned out, crunched, mistreated, mismanaged, or generally ground to a crisp, this one is for you.

Great question! This is my favourite documentary on jungle music—All Junglists: A London Something Dis (1994). Few interesting glimpses at gear in a studio setting if you're into rack samplers and yesteryear computers. British electronic music scene has always been cool. youtu.be/s8dJ0NP4jsE

I'm working with my buddy, Tao (Psychoclast Software), on a game called Manta—an action sci-fi "flight-swim" with elements of stealth and RTS. I wear several hats for Manta—the primary one is composing and performing the feature-length interactive musical score. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuHL...

In my headcanon, billionaires' brains have some very strange paths burned into them over time. I think having that much power & that many resources is an unnatural state, and that the brain has to twist itself into contortions to prevent madness. (This produces another kind of madness, of course.)

My buddy @broken-birds.bsky.social (Mark Redhead) is here at last. He's a fellow maker of music—known him about fourteen years through @wheatus.com—give him a big warm welcome. He's one of the funniest dudes I know, and his accent is amazing (Geordie).

So I did a thing: on.soundcloud.com/HS2gutBjyvcU...

My friend @mvorak.bsky.social is here! Like myself, he is a composer and musician. You may know his work on @brandon.insertcredit.com's Oh, Deer!, or with @yuzokoshiro.bsky.social on Streets of Rage 2-4 and Zork I. Acrobatizm is one of my favourites. motohirokawashima.bandcamp.com/album/acroba...

📢 EEEP!!! MYTHWRECKED is OUT NOW After *3 years* my next indie game (following Röki) is OUT NOW on Steam, Xbox and Nintendo Switch... 🏝️ Explore a secret island ⚡️ Meet the gods of legend 🔎 Uncover the truth, behind the myth

I don’t rap often , as I’ve leaned fully into my singing and producing much more over the years. But when I get the urge to RAP, I heed said urge lexxblack.bandcamp.com/track/deep

Got some real feelings about mutuals that are still paying for blue ticks on X/Twitter who aren't prominent public figures, and don't have a management team handling their social media. Why? Do better. Went on X—saw Elon Musk being openly sexist, transphobic, using the term "Pedosky" and more.

Steal this idea: integration of Git repositories in a traditional word processor, natively, or as extension. Use Git repo issues for in-line comments—way better on lengthy manuscripts. Wiki ideal for managing lore et al. Branches for ebook, print etc. Decent collab, merges, versioning and blame.

PSA: If you are in "infosec" and pentest third-parties—get consent—know your shit. Wasted hours on incorrect reports from an amateur "team" trying to get paid for FUD. Reported malicious behaviour to their VPS provider, referenced laws, introduced them to my lawyer, billed for wasting time. FAFO.

Already enjoying the familiarity of what Twitter used to be without, oh you know, the wildly hateful, racist rhetoric that exists there. I think I can get real comfy here

Oi! @hammyhavoc.com shared his thoughts on @tonywarriner.bsky.social's brilliant book—Revolution: The Quest for Game Development Greatness. If you're a fan of Broken Sword, or Beneath a Steel Sky, especially if you also make games, this one is a real treat: www.previousmagazine.com/tony-warrine...

@antisilence.bsky.social Great to see you mate!

I've been a fan of RSS for almost a quarter of a century—IMO, it keeps the modern web useable. Love FreshRSS. Recommend me your favourite RSS feeds! Even if they're yours, I want to know about them! Installed KOReader on a hacked Kindle to use with @nicosomb.bsky.social's Wallabag. #FOSS #IndieWeb
