It’s amazing how quickly this asshole will sell out allies, principles, and any sort of morality in a desperate attempt to maintain power. He’d burn down the country if he could keep all the ashes.

Wow — listen to these new comments from Trump. Thanking Putin, trashing Zelenskyy, characterizing Russia as eager for peace and Ukraine as intransigent. The mask is totally off.

Absolute ghouls. Stealing money from programs designed to help poor children to fund your party’s hateful agendas.

A Florida grand jury found the DeSantis administration “misappropriated” $10 million meant to provide health insurance for poor children. Part of a “sophisticated scheme to fund political activities,” the money was funneled through multiple organizations before reaching two PACs and the Florida GOP.

Great thread going through many of the problems with this hit piece in the Atlantic by Tyler Austin Harper (who has made something of a career writing pieces that as an academic he would most likely not give passing grades to).

since everyone is yelling at or about him, and since my brother went to bates, and since i also work in higher ed, i decided to read tyler austin harper's goodbye to all that to academia

“I loved Lindsey beyond words and if I do decide to run it will not be for self ambition it will be to carry on Lindsey’s legacy and to help the people of SC.” She can’t do both, so which is it? How a Grieving Trump Decided to Back Lindsey Graham’s Sister for Senate www.nytimes.com/2026/07/24/u...

nytimes.comHow a Grieving Trump Decided to Back Lindsey Graham’s Sister for Senate (Gift Article)The president initially backed a little-known congressman. Then he talked to Gov. Henry McMaster and Ms. Graham herself.

I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me if Bluesky has a way to filter batshit crazy conspiracy theorists because I don’t tolerate illogical assertions very well from either the left or the right.

At the College Language Association’s 84th annual conference in Jackson, MS, the Langston Hughes Society held a panel to celebrate Randal Jelks’s new book, My America: Langston Hughes on Democracy. Pictured: LHS founding member and past president Donna Akiba Sullivan Harper and Randal Jelks.

How many times can the actual Speaker of the House, the third in the line of succession, claim he has no idea what’s happening in this country?

RAJU: If defenseless survivors were killed, would that constitute a violation of the laws of war? MIKE JOHNSON: I'm not going to prejudge any of that. I was pretty busy yesterday. I didn't follow a lot of the news.

Admittedly, I didn’t pay much attention when past presidents were having the weekly televised adulation meetings, but were they always this sycophantic?

Stephen Miller: "Let me just say Mr President that this country was going to die without you. This country was going to actually die without you ... you alone saved it."

Straight out of the terrorist playbook: bomb civilians and then bomb the first responders.

Kneecap@kneecapceol.bsky.social

They no longer claim to not bomb hospitals - they first bomb patients and then bomb those who come to rescue the injured. Evil beyond words...

Here’s Trump explaining how he was manipulated by Putin. And he still doesn’t know he was bamboozled.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Vladimir Putin said something- one of the most interesting things. He said 'your election was rigged because you have mail in voting. It's impossible to have mail in voting & have honest elections.' He said that to me because we talked about 2020. He said, 'you won that election by so much'"

The whole goddamn world is enthralled by the nonsensical ramblings of an old paedophile with delusions of grandeur and blatant dementia. When the history books are written on this period, Christ it’ll be embarrassing to have lived through it, that’s if we live.

Looking for all those “don’t tread on me” folks as Trump deploys the National Guard in DC and tries to take over DC MPD. Actually, I’m not looking for them; I know where those bootlickers are.

“The papers were bad reading. Everything was going very badly everywhere. I sat back in the corner with a heavy mug of dark beer and an opened glazed-paper package of pretzels and ate the pretzels for the salty flavor and the good way they made the beer taste and read about disaster.” -E. Hemingway
