the dream of getting my phd is dead thanks to the big bill. im an after-school chess coach now which doesn't pay enough of the bills, but i at least get to see some purdy places traveling to schools and community centers around the pittsburgh area

I think this is a tactical mistake people in all lines of work are making rn: if you have outsourced your core value proposition to an LLM you are an unnecessary and expensive middleman. You have made yourself superfluous.

I don’t want to read what the LLM told you. I am interested in people, not a language generator. People reading what you write is like people going to your talk, they are paying with their time to hear what *you* have to say. If they wanted to know what the LLM would say they could ask themselves.

every time i see another "hey i lost my job because a field i've been working in my entire adult life is gone because companies want to do it with ai now" post, my heart breaks. this isnt just "people lose their jobs when new technologies come out," this is a demolition of creative and human work
