First week at SPARKS and though the change to the family routine has been a big adjustment, the new set up is life-changing. The response from the Bristol TTRPG fans has been amazing and during the quiet spells, I get to write more than ever before. Projects will be flying to completion from now on!

On top of adding Argo-0 and UNDERISLES to our RPG titles by the end of the year, we’ll be publishing GAST with @hatchedgames.bsky.social and printing this beautiful colouring book of islands by @salvaterra.bsky.social entitled Artipelago.

This is exactly the news I’ve been hoping to hear about UKGE, kinda wish they’d announced it on their comms, but this just proves that change CAN happen if you shout loudly and proudly about something. 💛

So precious! The Hatchlings crochet prototypes are here. Each one will be cuddling a teal d20. If they prove popular at the SPARKS shop, we’ll commission handmade dice for each dragon!

Over the last 7 years @luseals.bsky.social has contributed some joyous characters to our TTRPGs. Next year we’ll be producing the Inspired Edition of INSPIRISLES and adding many more illustrations to the already vibrant pages of the original game. Thanks for your dizzying imagination, Lucille! 🫶🏽

One week till the Hatchlings in-person shop opens at SPARKS in the heart of Bristol. We’ve already reached out to a few creators for their indie zines and crafts, and will continue to while we settle in. We’re also arranging a couple of sponsorships with local businesses such as Chance & Counters.

What video game series have you played since childhood and will still invest in when a new title launches? For me, it’s always been The Legend of Zelda, but I wish I’d discovered the Persona series earlier than my 40s 😅

Haven’t had that type of emotional reaction to media in years. I bought the gold box and cartridge of Ocarina of Time on its release in 1998 from Woolworths when that was still a thing. Seeing the remake today, with the obvious passion and resources dedicated to it, has left me a happy wreck!

In other news… BENEATH SILVER STITCHES, my debut low fantasy YA novel, is coming next year! ‘When a helicopter pilot crashes in the mountains, to save him, his teenage son must make a pact with a dark and desperate creature not of our world.’

The Hatchlings Shop opens September 23rd at SPARKS in Bristol. After the first month of getting settled, we’ll be reaching out to UK designers for their indie TTRPG zines to sell. We’ll also have a great range of extras, including BSL alphabet tea towels, greeting cards, prints, pins and patches!

Off to Bristol to measure the shop for furniture. It’s only diddy, but we’ve always managed to make the most of limited space with our games and merch. Planning on a rotating display stand to hold around 32 zines and 8 BSL greeting cards. Then once we’ve been there a month, we’ll add art prints!
