I have a couple of problems with using satellites to light up parts of the Earth: screws up diurnal rhythms of plants/animals/insects/birds/people/fish; adds more heat to the atmosphere as a whole; and isn't constant light used as torture? It's giving "torment nexus" energy, y'all.

Geez this is what I get for curiosity— some armed forces lady singing 25 or 6 to go by Chicago and don’t stop believing by journey?? Pretty sure neither one would have approved it also THIS IS NOT FIREWORKS MUSIC

The #WorldCup ⚽teams playing in Seattle, San Fran ,and Vancouver this weekend are going to have the best weather in comparison to what they have been playing in-- mid 60s vs 90+, possible showers, rather pleasant.

Liz Soto and Savanna Batten are 2 of those sentenced to 50 years in prison for Prairieland. I visited them in a north Texas jail—11 months into their incarceration over a July 4 noise demo—to meet the Trump admin’s “Antifa terrorists”. from behind glass, Soto said, “They didn’t like my book club.”

Interesting. I don’t know enough about Mr Schmitt’s politics to say if this is ironically good. I like the part where the bill quotes the entire Declaration of Independence.

SB4828: Declaration of Independence Reaffirmation Act of 2026 Status: Introduced in the Senate, read twice, considered, read the third time, and passed without amendment by Unanimous Consent. 2026-06-18 Sponsor: Eric Schmitt (R) SD-MO

Quiet morning #knitting, 🧶 coffee ☕️and World Cup NED-SWE ⚽️🇳🇱🇸🇪 I should finish this second attempt today— ribbing, bind off, graft underarms, weave in ends, wash and block. Then wait 6 months for cooler weather to wear it!

Restarted (again) my #running training this week! To recap: I had to take 1.5 years off because of my back-- started over 2025. Then in March 2026 I had shoulder/bicep surgery. I have struggled to re-restart training- mentally, mostly. But I'm forcing myself to do it, if only to prove I can.

Did I literally just finish #knitting this sweater & am now taking it apart? You bet I am! Self-drafted yoke sweater. I need to knit the green & fuchsia sections shorter, maybe revisit the flowers in the transition from green to fuchsia. Hem is flippy, maybe redo that too? I like the process.

Watched my favorite truly awful natural disaster movie, Dante’s Peak. It’s so bad! It came out when I was in college studying geology, my prof devoted an entire lecture to the movie and all its many, many, many flaws. Best. lecture. Ever

Anyway, in other news, I actually spent time yesterday outside knitting. I haven’t knit more than 2 rows (painfully at that) for about a month. Feeling pretty good about getting back into it. Shoulder continues to be painful but less so & PT is ongoing. Progress, I guess

I'm really enjoying the Artemis II mission livestream, commentary, videos and pictures, and can't wait for the astronauts to get back safely so I can start geeking out over Artemis III. The best part is that my nephew and I watched the launch together, and he's been checking w/ me each day.

Please someone tell me if Trump lost his shit about how animated the astronauts were with the Canada Premier phone call versus how... bored they were on his (and thought they had lost audio)

Ok #knitting friends, I’m working on figuring out my Gramma’s sweater construction— but I’m stuck on the raglan part of this! She made this bottom up, so these would be decreases. I would keep one or two stickers between the dec but she didn’t do that. Is it a YO/drop on next rnd? 🧶

Also also, I’ve been taking notes on this sweater and there are 25 different colors used. I’ve noted their progression from bottom to top. She didn’t use the same number of repeats for each color progression, so I’ll need to be careful about that.

We’ve weighed it and it comes in at 1 pound, 1.125 ounces. My gran always said a sweater is a pound of wool, and this is pretty close. 1oz is 28.35 grams, approx. With 25 colors, I’d need about 25-28 grams of each color. I want worsted weight, so it’s time to go price out 25 colors of yarn.

Example: K2tog yo SSK knit to next and repeat for the 4 decrease points, then k around dropping the YO when you get to them? I haven’t knit a swatch yet to experiment, so this is just thinking out loud

My gramma knit this sweater probably 50years ago— she made at least 4 similar ones; this one belonged to my granddad. My uncle recently died and my dad has been going through his things with my cousin, and they decided I should have this. Really looking forward to seeing if I can replicate it!

The continuing saga of my shoulder issues: The MRI showed partial tears of bicep tendon and labrum. Also biceps tendinitis. I’ve got a referral to a specialist to discuss surgery or cortisone shots or something. I’m hoping we get in fast and can start moving forward. Very much in pain a lot.

Hey so if you need to call the IRS this tax season, don't expect anyone to pick up. " The IRS provided 1,771, which out of a total special agent population of about 2,100, means about 84 percent of its agent workforce was detailed to ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations slate.com/news-and-pol...

An update, month and a half or something after my fall over a lifted sidewalk element: a thread: Homeowner says they don’t see any problem. City requested more info, I suggested they drive out there and look at it, then sent them 11 well-marked photos from all angles as well as GPS coord. 1/?

Pulling on/off socks is not good, lifting arm above mid-torso is difficult, pulling/pushing also a problem. MRI is finally scheduled 2/17. Will continue hammering the city on this, hope the injury resolved with time/rest/etc

Sorry, that was #3, here’s some photos: can you tell where to find the sidewalk? /4 the end for now. I’m so irritated and in pain. City says it’s not their responsibility/don’t have manpower to investigate these things.

2/ I offered to meet them out there. Crickets. Will email Monday. Shoulder is highly problematic right now. Seemed like it was getting better with PT, heat/ice, ibuprofen. Went to toss an empty tp tube underhand into recycling and shoulder objected strongly

Looks like the 1st and 2nd amendments are only for ICE and the people Trump owns (i.e. everyone who works for him) and not for anyone else I am sickened and horrified by the killings in MN, it’s just a matter of time before ICE/MAGA takes it elsewhere. WE ARE NOT SAFE.

Look, if the man says he’s not going to do something, that’s your warning because he’s going to absolutely do the thing he said he wouldn’t do. Enthusiastically, even. He’s a lying liar who lies. And, if he says he’s didn’t do a thing— he definitely did, enthusiastically and proudly.

This thing has been stuck on Sleeve Island for about 2!years. I’m going to get this sweater done before the end of March, and I mean it!! Pattern is Dark Academia, yarn is Boss Kitty’s Bruiser and Brass Monkey.🧶
