I forgot when I pulled the 2nd CPU from all my FC630 blades, I left the second sockets ram installed. I’m assuming past me didn’t have a good way to store 48 sticks of 32gb 2400 DDR4 ECC. So thanks past me for the 1.5Tb of relatively fast memory in this drought.

This #CPS2 X-Men Vs. Street Fighter was kinda in rough shape. After plastic bonding some broken posts, replacing a questionable battery and installation of an InfiniKey. This Xmvsfu might out live all of us at the rate we are going.

Busted’ out the big (20M4U) PVM for some maintenance. Still need to do a full recap and calibration, but it’s a big job. Still looks great without it. 800 THICC TV lines. Mega Man X3 is one of the few Snes game I don’t own. So we play Rockman X3 and some R-Type 3.

Dude must have played FF7: Rebirth and decided he didn’t want to be apart of that slop fest anymore.

Travis Willingham is the new VA for Sephiroth, per Maximillian Dood (info received from Square Enix)

Home ports? You talking about firewall rules? We don’t do ports here, real arcade hardware action. Some #capcom #cps 2 #darkstalkers on the baby 14” PVM. Plus a sneak peak of what’s next.

An organized Cisco Nexus is a happy Cisco Nexus. Been really hitting the Cisco hard past few weeks, over the weekend completely re-engineered it. More vlans, better segmentation, performance etc. Replaced the pseudo layer 3 all my one 1gb traffic went over with a real Catalyst with a 10gb uplink.

I find 2026 to be distasteful so I’m going back to 1998. Enjoy your surveillance AI hell scape. I’ll be rocking Mac system 9, wearing Jncos and playing PlayStation and N64.

So much neat stuff sitting in hefty containers. Most of them work. If I ever get my health back I’ve got a ton of mod/maintenance/repair work to do. Casual front loader NeoGeo CD and Duo-R.

Over half a petabyte, 576tb of storage after parody. 624tb total raw, just the main array. Which I’ve maxed out can no longer add disks. All in a single 4U chassis.

Ordered a new pair of Litter Robots to replace the aging V3 robot. Went with the v4 because then newer one has an “AI” powered camera and requires a $120 a year Whiskers+ subscription. No. I don’t want a fancy internet connected litter box taking pictures of the inside of my house.

Summoned what little energy I have to install a new GPU in the Plex server. Intel Arc A310 (4gb), wanted the 380 but the GPU market is just… awful. I primarily wanted this for AV1. Since disks are probability expensive. Going to test AV1 & AV1 transcoding.

Crazy #FinalFantasyVII turns 29. I still have my copy, even the receipt. Still one of the best FFs of all time. Maybe I should play it on my Debug PlayStation system that came from Square office. (Though the US version has a few more months before it’s officially 29).

I bought this portable Viewsonic monitor for my microscope for soldering work. But I use it more to work on PCs than anything. It also means I need to get back into modding and repair work.

Merry Christmas but 75° and running my AC on Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas at all. Halloween didn’t feel like it either since it was 90°. Global warming sucks and I want consistently cold October - December.

How and what the hell am I suppose to do till the next season of #Pluribus comes out? Just live life and wait? The way things are going who knows if 2027 will even be a thing. Season 1 review: 11/10, masterful cinematography, sound design, writing and acting.

Working on the last SFF PC refresh for realistically a long long time. I had a feeling hardware availability would tank but didn’t respect it to be this bad. My squad of X3D AM5s should get me to 2029/2030. Kidding but not. :-/ Glad I always went 64gb minimum in ram.

First SFF (re)build is finished. AIO, Arc B580 (will fit 4070super) with a Asus Strix B650E-I running a 7800X3D. Temps are great considering the slim radiator/fans and GPU literally mm’s apart. All crammed into a Fractal Ridge.

10 min of Cinebench R23 has temps 78-82.9°C, on default fan curve with DOCP-1 enabled. I’ve got a bunch of extra fans crammed in there from when I was trying to keep a 10850k cool on a Noctua NH-L12Sx77 (impossible). I left them in since they were already there. Super happy with this setup.

Talking about SFF: “Oh yeah SFF is the way to go, you can have all the performance and minimal drawbacks. Only my main gaming rig is full size, I love mini itx. “ Working on SFF builds: “Oh god I hate this cable management is such a pain why is it like this I want the pain to stop.”

PC/Server pricing is just unbelievable, I paid $350 for this memory kit 11 days ago (11/07/2025). Now it's almost $800 and prices are continuing to going up. I bought some ECC DDR4 for the home lab Feb/March 2025, $380 for 512gb. Now just 128gb ECC DDR4 is $370 dollars.

Last refresh for a long time. Realistically until AM6 and post AI bubble. Ive got a 9950X3D, 9800X3D and 7800X3D based rigs. I can’t imagine anything on AM5 fast enough to warrant replacing the 9950/9800X3D. Now GPUs are different story, but I’m solid on those at the moment as well

9950X3D - Asus 5080 Astra 9800X3D - Nvidia 4070 Super 7800X3D - Intel Arc B850. Only the 9950/5080 is a full size ATX build the other two are mini itx. Even managed to fit water coolers in the mini itx cases.

I’ve been into mini pcs and picked up this little one. GMKtec Evo-X1 Mini PC AMD Ryzen AI 370. Packs a Radeon 890m. Still disappointed I missed the amazing Apple M4 MacMini deal, but that sold out like it was a Final Fantasy x Magic the Gathering drop.

It just keeps getting worse and worse.

I got into the Final Fantasy: Trading Card Game, because Magic is a gateway drug. The card art vs MTG is night and day, Wizard of the has high standards. FF: TCG can vary. However this card, is just amazing. 11/10 no notes. Wizards of the Coast needs to step their game up.
