Castlevania 2 is fucking awesome its so fun to solve its fucked up little secrets and i love how you can just walk past the boss fights like a Klik N Play game that didn't know how to script a boss end

people who get super aggro and holier-than-thou about metric are so fucking annoying. like honestly i get it if you hate america but at least hate us for something that matters and find something less lame to care about.

i don't know what it is but I genuinely like Castlevania 2 - i think the fact that it has so much cryptic bullshit adds to it having a really good Spooky Halloween Adventure feeling to it

i first found and watched it back in the 00s when i was going through a compilation of absolute dogshit public domain horror movies nobody had ever heard of and went into it completely blind expecting more bullshit. it was a formative experience

not that many people knew about it back then so there was no word of mouth or anything, its one of the reasons i am still a believer in sifting through coal to find gem

i had a vivid dream about these weird staticy fog ghosts called 'hummers' for some reason and they take a different bunch of shapes (some are big disembodied distorted faces, some are humanoid, etc) and they're physically harmless but actively pursue you. one was camping my mail outside.

also the one that was griefing me was a big face one at first but later it was a skeletal woman in a shredded wedding dress and she kinda had a high-contrast b&w photo look to her. she would stalk my windows when i was watching tv

they were very PNG-like and like visibly like a few frames of animation (i think because the dream started as a game first and then inexplicably became real life for no coherent reason because dream - i remember looking at the png files early on lmao)

i feel like soulslike games are some of the most boring fucking games to watch ever and i feel like its the result of having some abstract curse placed on me because almost everyone else i know loves watching it

Link to the Past rules because i think it's the zeld game that most easily translates in head as a Henson-esque dark children's fantasy adventure with lots of cool puppet dudes

okay i'm actually really curious now - is there like an actual first-party source on the oot remake being inspired by puppets and 70's fantasy illustrations or anything by people working on it or is it just nintendo development fanfiction that people have accepted as fact

i promise i am not engaged in any stupid arguments over the art style i'm mostly just curious because i've seen like 3 different explanations for the art direction just from scrolling my feed

i would not go as far as to say 'oot remake isn't stylized' because that isn't true but also i have no idea what the fuck they're going for either

it's really frustrating to see a game that has a ton of visual and stylistic effort put into it but it's all super millennial writing snark empty dialogue that doesn't do anything for the character or the story or literally anything

i will not elaborate on what game because i feel like there are 10 indie/small studio games like this and also it's 3 am and i might just be in hater mode tonight

why even bother writing 300 pages of character dialogue if every character has the same 'Uhh...' Just...' and exact same snark attitude and there's nothing to differentiate the characters and it feels like every character is just going on a diatribe about random bullshit. like what is the point

i don't think 'ALL WRITING HAS TO ADVANCE STORY" i love having dialogue for all the different shit you can interact with but literally what is the fucking point if its all the same flavor of bullshit, doesn't give the characters any kind of meaningful contrast or interesting dynamic, etc. etc.

i have a really big pet peeve for people who can't distinguish 'good comedy-horror movie that is intentionally funny' from 'so bad it's good' Dead-Alive/Braindead is not 'so bad it's good' its just really fucking good and has an insane amount of effective line and sight gags

the worst part is that they say that and then buy Game and it releases as a completely broken pile of shit anyways

i think every person who ever said 'i have to buy the newest game from the shitty company that abuses their employees to reward all the hard-working employees for their work' to justify a game purchase should be kicked in the balls so hard their shit explodes into dust

it's kinda insane how hard Fabio Frizzi cooked for the Monster Shark/Devil Fish ost considering how dogshit the movie is (i still kinda like the movie though...)

there's nothing more annoying than when you're watching some schlock with a bunch of other people who wants to watch schlock and there's some guy in the watchalong chat going like 'well THAT was stupid...' 'that doesn't make sense that's stupid...' brother shut the fuck up we're watching bullshit

i saw someone in a Dino Crisis stream chat say with a straight face that 'the gameplay is outdated, that's why it really needs a remake' and i could feel a vein in my neck pop out

i liked the REmakes when they first come out but i've rapidly come to resent them more and more because of how much fucking damage they've done to people simply appreciating games as they were made and not 'defective toy that needs to be made better'

watched gamescom as a part of a vtuber watchalong and all i could think about was all the money i don't have to spend. even without considering the fact that half of them probably used ai, everything barring maybe one or two games looked boring as fuck
