A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death. Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written." Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating. 🧪🧬🧫

We’re not dealing with brilliant strategists cleverly laying traps, we’re dealing with impulsive whiners whose advantage is contempt for laws, norms, and morality. They’re not pulling some elaborate trick, they’re just willing—even eager—to do things regular, principled people consider off limits.

They tell us to Dance if we want to, but then insist we leave our friends behind. They call this a Safety Dance. Monsters. All of them.

Trump just referred to some bankers as "shylocks" in his speech in Iowa.

Few people remember it, but this actually was Dear Abby's advice on how to respond if you forget about Flag Day because you were too busy holding a self-aggrandizing birthday party military parade that nobody came to.

The AI bros aren't good at anything creative and resent everyone who is. Their dream is, "type in a prompt and make the movie/album/picture you want." Sure, that'd be neat, but I want art *better* than I could've thought of. That'll only come from people better than me at making the art.

But seriously though. Why do we/they keep making live action remakes of animated films that were nearly perfect as they were? Is it an IP thing? Something to do with managing rights? I'm confused.

FYI: The group (APOPO) who trains these hero rats (and other critters) does "adoptions" for donations and sends you monthly reports on how your animal is fairing and what training and field work they've done. I have been sponsoring them for years. They're good people. apopo.org

Stop scrolling, some good news for your timeline. Ronan the Rat just won a Guinness World Record for the most landmines detected. Absolute legend.

The InfoSec industry needs to step up and push back against the USG’s moves here, which read like Soviet Russia. Targeting Chris Krebs and his employer (and CISA) like this is appalling. Chris, a Republican if memory serves, was a great leader for CISA.

The Trump administration is now going after its first cybersecurity company, stripping @sentinelone.com of "any active security clearance." Will the infosec industry do any better than the legal industry in showing solidarity? www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/...
