Detroit pizza Too much dough, pepperoni on the edges, under the cheese and on top and extra cheese. Just overall too much. It was a successful attempt. From grabbing the flour to out of the oven in 90 minutes. Cost per person $2.20 #cooking

Roasted potatoes and chili Potatoes were boiled, roughed up, cooled, oiled and roasted but I didn't get the browning and crispy I was looking for. Chili I canned when beef was something you could afford. Cheddar and smoked jack. Price per person: $2.54 #cooking

Inktober, mystical Otzi the Iceman had 61 tattoos. Most of them took the form of lines at various points on his body. Here I have used myself as the canvas for two of them. One on his left wrist and one on his left lower ribs. 1/2 #inktober #anthropology #drawing #art

This is fitting because these tattoos were on spots that even thousands of years later we can tell he had medical issues with and my lower left ribs have been broken and bruised a number of times. 6'2" flesh canvas, Micron 10 pen 2/2

Tuna melt I usually say what is in my tuna melts but never show it. I add a lot of pickled goods to bring enough acid to the party to brighten up the tuna, mayo and cheese. Common pickled items are gardenaera, relish, pepperoncini, jalapenos, capers, etc. and not a small amount of it. 1/3 #cooking

Inktober, flightless By the time the mesolithic was in gear ostriches were mostly the only big flightless birds around for people to encounter. The southern tip of South America had a special treat though. 1/2

The last of the terror birds (phorusrhacid) lived there until a little under 12,000 years ago. 10 feet tall and instant death to any human who might have made it to the end of the world that is Patagonia at the time. 2/2

Lumberjack food Kielbasa, potatoes, bell pepper, onion, seasoning, cheese. This was leftovers stuck in the freezer for a long time ago. Cheese added to stretch the leftovers. Cost per person $1.63 #cooking

Off topic, Today I got a tour and demonstration of a drone used by our local sheriff's department. They had someone hide and then used the drone to follow the bloodhound tracking the person down. Sheriffs love the cop drone.

Inktober, flimsy Trigger warning, child death The most flimsy thing in the mesolithic were children. About 26% didn't make it to one year old. 40% probably didn't make it to five years old. #inktober #penandink #art #anthropology #drawing (1/4)

Because population density was measured in less than tens of people per mile. But if you managed to find one that was infected you were going to have a bad time. Every little bacterial infection was life-threatening. Bacteria lived everywhere. They were out to get you. (3/4)

They would hide out in meat and on berries. And they were out to get the children. Half of all children never reached reproductive age. If they did there was always the risk of death from childbirth. Which was a bigger risk than getting trampled by an animal in a hunt. (4/4)

There was a 56% chance they didn't make it to puberty. Today we think about getting vaccinated against viruses, but viruses were pretty rare. We lived in small groups of no more than about 150 people. The odds of you coming in contact with an outsider were slim to none (2/4)

Quesadilla Cheddar, black beans, jalapeno cream sauce, ripe jalapenos, sour cream. It's basically a repeat from the other day but it's fast and cheap. Cost per person $1.76. #cooking

1/3 Inktober, Toss The Atlatl was the first tool that took advantage of physics on a grand scale. Take a spear, put it in the Atlatl and now you can throw that spear with 4X the force of just throwing the spear. #inktober #penandink #drawing #art #anthropology

2/3 These made taking down large animals a lot easier. One spear with 4x the force is a lot better than 4 spears with no force modifier. Nothing in D&D offers a 4X damage modifier. This tool was literally better than magic.

3/3 If you are going to use one please use a hardened tip on your spear because otherwise it's probably going to shatter when it hits something. The easy way to do that is just burn the tip of your spear in your fire and then shape a new point on
