Did you know that in 1993 Prince wrote and produced a musical called Glam Slam Ulysses, based on the Odyssey? Apparently, it was advertised as "The Homer-Erotic Odyssey of Ulysses and His Gang". Carmen Electra starred.

I've not tried the CBD+THC tincture yet, but I'm gonna order some. I regularly use Milk Barn Farm's CBD tinctures for sleeping and such, and the spiced salve for sore muscles. They're the best. Highest rec. Also, follow Derek on TikTok for pepper, goat, and blooming corpse flower (now a tree!) vids

Hey Bsky! Our fantastic CBD+THC tincture will be going away at the end of November because of Republican fuckery, so here's a coupon for ten bucks off if you wanna stock up now. Just use code BSKY at checkout or click this link. milkbarn.farm/discount/BSK...

One of my favorite movie memories is walking past the Cinerama and noting that Skerrit was sitting for a Q&A on a screening of Alien that day. Bought a ticket on the spot, it was the best (both his stories and watching it on a huge screen).

Paul Constant@paulconstant.com

I believe Skerritt hosted the first private fundraiser in Seattle for then-presidential candidate Barack Obama in his home, along with a couple of book launch parties for local authors. I saw him out at arts events pretty frequently around town. He made Seattle better by being a good neighbor.

This lovely man would have been 89 today, if he had lived to see it. So many things in this world I look at and think about how he would have loved them. Or, if he didn't, how he would have engaged with them to try to understand them better. Happy birthday, Dad.

Also, I've been searching for that shirt he's wearing in reproduction. A vintage Canon shirt that says UP YOUR IMAGE above it. He shot with an AE-1, so that's probably what's pictured. Anybody ever seen this shirt?

Some of my favorite artists show me again and again why they are my favorite artists. What an absolutely beautiful work of storytelling and memory.

Buy your digital comics from Sweet. It’s beautiful and run by people who love comics and are more interested in good design and good features more than selling out.

Welcome to our comic shop. The doors are open. We're so glad you're here.

A pivotal moment in how I understood the world was noting the difference in what I was told Gloria Steinem's message was, and what she was actually saying. The gulf between the two was rather her point. She always spoke in a clear, direct way. It's almost like it took work to misunderstand her.

If you are a team of illustrators or artists and you have “brothers” in your name, I’m probably going to be a fan. Hernández brothers, the Brothers Hildebrandt, The Etherington Brothers.

Okay so new law where we all have to give our opinions to the person to our left for a week. I mean physically left. The person to your right gives you theirs. Everybody swaps.

Then we have opinion Powerball. If you hit the big prize you live opinion free your whole life. OR, you make everybody else have your opinions for twenty-four hours, OR you make everyone have no opinions for twenty-four hours. Twenty four hours without opinions. You can't measure that kind of wealth

My favorite thing to see at SDCC was amazing cosplay people looking at their phones. It feels like they’re off shift having a personal moment, like you’re backstage at Chaos Theme Park witnessing something the normies shouldn’t see.

I took some pictures in the style of street candids, but sharing them feels disrespectful to the hard work they put in. Instead, here are my two favorite cosplays I witnessed with my own two eyes.

A good day to rewatch one the strangest videos to emerge from the mad MTV early days and see what details you missed last time. youtu.be/lcOxhH8N3Bo?...

Out of all the songs regarding eclipses of major organs, hers was my favorite www.nytimes.com/2026/07/09/a...

I'm going to be at SDCC for the first time this year. Any real-world friends here going? DM me if you want to cross paths! Any great tabletop, or TTRPG, or artists you love that I should check out?

Consistently the most meaningful and grounding read on the internet, to me. Mandy's work reminds me of the best parts of the early promise of the internet made into a beating, living, and modern textual body. Here's to eighteen more years.

This month marks *18 years* of A Working Library. I will have more to say about what it means to blog for this long, and what I'm building towards, but for now I just want to thank everyone for reading. aworkinglibrary.com/writing/umyazu

This has been the overwhelming opinion of everybody I've talked to, sports fans and haters alike. I think we all just wanted our city to feel fun, again. Seattle is a really fun city that feels like it's been struggling to wake up since lockdown.

Paul Constant@paulconstant.com

I do not give one single solitary damn about any kind of sports, but I have to say the World Cup has been nothing but great for Seattle. A joyous civic celebration. We should commit to keeping the city’s investments in public transit and shared public spaces going once the event is over.

I wrote about how I discovered that a new site for The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, John Koenig's long-running Tumblr project-turned-book, was a bootleg made by a marketing agency. They published the complete book verbatim, then added AI-generated art and new AI words, entirely without permission.

Without permission, a marketing agency republished the entirety of John Koenig's Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows book, replacing its art with AI slop and adding new AI words. Their unauthorized site now ranks higher than the real one everywhere.
