Flow is a good thing to think about when creating appealing shapes for #gameart

Heres a pattern i use all the time when sculpting. Really helps to get appealing shapes.

He's now in Painter :D

UVs done

Im having tons of fun with this character! Doing a Blender test

First Marmoset bake test with auto uvs. Tons of issues but Im the progress so far!

For games, whats the correct way to smooth the normals for a character? Currently Im using Soften Edges in Maya. Do you do a uniform soften based on the angle or do different areas get a custom angle?

Topo more or less done, now to crush ngons

You know how marketing for movies are lying or severely undermining the work of VFX companies? It's because the audience likes when things are 'real'. Imagine a movie being made with AI - the backlash would be 100x more intense than this.

In games, are poles okay or should they generally be avoided? If they are bad, what's the consequence of having them?

Im making some progress on the back and tail

Hey Hey! I´m new here, have a look at what I do:

From a recent mentorship review focusing on creature sculpting and design

Roast my topo

First head bake test in Marmoset

The biggest shift I have to get used to so far for the games workflow is that everything is a tri. It's such a different way of working and I'm enjoying it a lot!

Does anyone have some good examples of clean triangulates topo for game characters compared to bad or messy topo? Basically, what are some good conventions for what to do and not to do?

I have an available mentorship spot starting next week, focusing on character art Info and contact details here henningsanden.com

A handy tip for how to make retopology easier by using ngons

That time I made it onto @flippednormals.bsky.social. I'm still getting folks pinging me about it.

An essential feature in ZBrush which is often overlooked is how to move all subtools without using Transpose Master

Here are some amazing Windows hotkeys to speed up your work! 🔥

Here's a great tip for making complex characters: Embrace the grind

Here's a good guide for where to place loops when retopologizing characters

Air pollution has dropped significantly in #Paris in the last 15 years as a result of a deliberate strategy. Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social’s leadership has traded car space for green space, safe bike space, kid space.. and traded pollution for people. Good trade.

Im playing with textures and shading for the arm. Maps from Painter and render in Marmoset
