Short and sweet / new preprint led by PostDoc Johannes Wetekam: temporal predictions alone increase response readiness, spectral predictions enhance sensitivity >> both combined synergistically increase the perceptual benefit!

Cognition & Brain Dynamics lab@brainthemind.bsky.social

New preprint led by Johannes Wetekam, Chloe Dumeige, Manon Beurtey and @herbstso.bsky.social! Temporal (“when”) and spectral (“what”) predictions shape auditory detection in complementary ways. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... @cea.fr @inserm.fr @univparissaclay.bsky.social @unicog.bsky.social

We show that duration storage mimics sensory items in working memory (WM): increasing the number of durations in a sequence – but not the duration of the sequence – increases WM load and reduces recall precision. Alpha power during retention indexes WM load, mediating the decrease in precision.

Zotero-users please help: How can I overwrite the ordering of citations (using APA style) for a case like this: (Smith et al., 2020; Jones et al., 1999; but see Albert & Smith, 2022; Fritz et al. 1998) – neither classical search nor AI could help me with this, and it really annoys me

Glad to see that I am not the only one struggling. But it is possible (re: zotero forum): if you have the new version of the word plugin, you can uncheck 'keep sources sorted' by clicking on the little triangle next to the red Z on the left cite of the citation selection tool for one instance.

Episode II of how are durations stored in working memory: Besides replicating our previous findings, we find that alpha power reflects a universal signature of WM load and mediates recall precision, even for abstract information like duration www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... 🔽 co-authors below

biorxiv.orgAlpha power indexes working memory load for durationsTiming, that is estimating, comparing, or remembering how long events last, requires the temporary storage of durations. How durations are stored in working memory is unknown, despite the widely held ...

Another appeal to OPM-, SQUID- MEG researchers. I try to find all people interested in brain magnetism on bluesky. Please respond if you identify as such or tag people who are. It's not a starter pack so there's no limit. Please repost and engage♥️ #psychscisky 🧪 🧠🟦 🤖🧠 🧠📟 🧠📈 bsky.app/profile/did:...

Hi #neuroskyence and #PsychSciSky friends! 🧪🧠⏰ The Timing Research Forum is now on Blue Sky! We're a 1500+ strong group of researchers devoted to studying the psych/neuro basis of time perception. We have a newsletter, virtual journal clubs, and a biennial meeting! Check us out #academicsky

#HiSciSky Happy to be here and looking forward to exciting and friendly scientific discussions! I am a researcher at Neurospin, France, interested in human timing and time perception and audition. I use psychophysics, EEG and MEG to study the behavioral and neural dynamics of temporal cognition.

You are up to date.
