Hey gamers! I'm thinking of creating a women-led luxury gaming magazine or book. I have a quick 4 question survey to gauge interest in it. Please fill it out even if it's a "not for me" it would be hugely helpful. Also please share so I can get more data! forms.gle/ZD9Gen7C4foe...

tldr; Other platforms have you rent access to their creators, but Launchpad is not a platform โ€“ it is a suite of tools that helps you build your own creators database, manage your keys across all platforms, and send your keys out organically! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Big news! Indie games Devs and marketers pay attention. Launchpad has been in the works for a long time, developed for indies with indies ๐Ÿ‘‡

Ash Gwinnell@ashleygwinnell.bsky.social

I'm pleased to announce Launchpad โ€” my creator discovery, organic campaigns and key distribution tools โ€“ for indie games! ๐Ÿš€ This has been in development for ~2 years with a cohort of early access customers across the industry. Here's how it helps your #indiegamemarketing:

Just heard about the countdown mechanic in Blood of Dawnwalker, which reminds me of the timer countdown in Sรฉance of Blake Manor. Seemingly a marmite mechanic. I'm for it. Completionism compels me to *do all the things*, but this gives me permission to *not* and just get on with it. I approve.

A nice grown up thread on running a sensible service business in the games industry. Well done George, good grown-upping right there ๐Ÿ™Œ

George E. Osborn@georgeosborn.bsky.social

I'm wrapping up my accounts for the end of my business's third (!) financial year and things look...not too bad y'know. Mini ๐Ÿงต for those curious about running media, consulting and events in today's economic hellscape.

"Make the game you want to play" might not be the best advice. It probably already exists and you can have a lot of fun finding it. "Make the game you want to be a part of creating" is better and makes you focus on the process, associated learnings and joy available in that.

Was thinking this earlier. To IPO is to hand over the primary concern of a business to being: benefit shareholders no matter the cost

Jan Willem Nijman@jwaaaap.com

if youโ€™re a games company that wants to survive it has been proven over and over again you need to do whatever it takes to stay away from being publicly traded. youโ€™ll be turned into wood chips the moment itโ€™s convenient.

Super fascinating. Long form is more significant than I'd assumed. Doesn't mean every dev should be making *their own* long-form content though, also consider enabling it from others with existing reach (provide quality assets, do interviews, be interesting to creators) ๐Ÿ‘‡

Been playing The Mermaid Mask and it's SO GOOD. Great writing, genuinely funny, superb voice acting, lovely art & animation and a super intuitive and satisfying UI. Big recommend and congrats @sfbdim.bsky.social, @sfbtom.bsky.social and co ๐Ÿ™Œ

Extremely hyped to hang out with the @limitbreak.co.uk committee tomorrow. Excited to make plans for what comes next and spend time with a bunch of selfless legends doing their bit to make a better, more diverse, supported and creative games industry in otherwise testing times ๐Ÿ’–

Some great tools for thriving with adhd here ๐Ÿ’ก (Also, hard relate on the early dementia paranoia, appreciated reading this ๐Ÿ‘€)

๐Ÿงต I have inattentive #ADHD. This means I forget things and my working memory isn't great. Before I was diagnosed I was worried I had young onset dementia and it was a massive relief to get my diagnosis. I have a lot of systems in place to help me remember and live my life! Here are some things:

I'd happily help with this. I can advise on strategy, technical setup, and making the most of your platform. I'm clueless about romance media, but obsessed with people finding and making the most of "their thing". If yours might be romance games, step forward ๐Ÿ‘‡

Alice Ruppert ๐Ÿด๐ŸŽฎ@malicedafirenze.bsky.social

Youโ€˜d think with how much bank Love and Deepspace is making, someone in games publishing would catch up on this. If I werenโ€˜t committed to horse games Iโ€˜d be starting a commentary website for Romance games. If anyone wants to do that I will help you and let you copy all my homework.

I always thought it was ironic how much we celebrate the game Monopoly and completely miss the very unsubtle message behind it. I just learned the origin story of the game and of course a woman invented it, was screwed over by it's success and died poor ๐Ÿ˜”

So, industry revenue has continued to climb. But we know thousands of incomes have been obliterated. Great, so execs and shareholders are laughing, but what happens to future games content? ๐Ÿค”

Raj Patel@rajio.bsky.social

This page is a fav of mine every year. Look how much of the market revenue is from mobile. PC is only at 21%! Also we can see that industry revenue overall continues to grow every year. think about that with respect to all the layoffs and closures. where is the money going?

Closing out the rally, @nershly.bsky.social beautifully speaks about her experience being fired by Rockstar and how they try to use fear.

There's an acapella performance of the Ducktails theme tune on Instagram. And I'm thrilled by how many disparate mutuals have converged over the like button on it ๐Ÿ˜

Another thought on "friendslop"... Does that style of game appeal to the generation of players who have graduated from Roblox > Steam over the past few years, perhaps?

The beauty of having SUCH a shit memory for media, is I think it's almost been long enough for me to be able to go and do a revisit of this banger and not be able to spoil it for myself ๐Ÿ‘€

We have released a patch today for both the demo and full game. This patch brings the demo in line with the released game and includes a number of updates and fixes. The full patch notes can be found here: https://bit.ly/4xuvl1h

Can I remember a single character name or plot line from this game I played a year ago? Barely. Could I recall pretty much any 1980's kids TV show theme? Absolutely. ๐ŸŽต Bertha, lovely Bertha, sometimes I think you're a dream... IYKYK

Just read all 33 quoted posts and yep, not a single positive sentiment (but a few funny takedowns). I'm almost tempted to see if there's any positive response to this on the bad place, but nah. bsky.app/profile/gibi...
