One of my work colleagues is shortly acquiring 3 (three) kittens. She shared a video of them with some of us today. They are utterly adorable. (One voidling, one tuxie who has a white stripe down his darling nose and the loveliest white mittens, and a tabby) I foresee regular kitten therapy....

Lovely Mass (Eucharist, whatever) at York Minster this morning. Lovely sermon (interesting and engaging), banging hymns (like RVW bangers) and Byrd 5 Voice Mass. Mass should always be good for tbe soul. This was good for the soul.

Thank you to everyone involved in the Goon Show 75th birthday event today. That was utterly joyous, silly and wonderful. And in today's world silly and joyous can feel in short supply. Wonderful voice actors, perfect musicians and wonderfully put together.

A bit sad that my dad wasn't with me, but we'll listen to some Goon Shows at Christmas. He would love that show. I might be giggling like a silly person for the rest of the day now....

I am very much looking forward to this tomorrow. Fingers crossed the trains play ball....

I'm back commuting by bike after some time unwell, away etc. Busy out there. Lovely evening too forst dark commute of the winter for me. But in short sleeves and shorts. Which just feels all kinds of odd Onyhoo @cs3cs6count.bsky.social scores at 645 (counter stopped, goitched to 0 and restarted

Nîmes is lovely. Would 100% recommend it if you're into Roman stuff. There was also a Science Festival going on yesterday and some kind of "Help for Heroes" thing (except in French) in the central park which involved pony rides, and "assault courses" and some kind of hyrox thing?

Sing hurrah for being home. Why is everyone on the Eurostar always so noisy? I mean, I think the TGV (especially 1st class) os very quiet but I always find the Eurostar absolutely deafening and overwhelming. Anyway, home with MOTD on for a bit while I unwind and can get some sleep.

Hurrah! There was a chap sitting close to my on the TGV who was watching a video on his phone sans headphones. The conductor (train manager?) was walking through, noticed, asked him politely to not do that and put some headphones in. He does not have headphones. Now appears sulky. But compliant.

In a stunning turn of events it appears as though the same man is actually sitting in first class without the appropriate ticket. I am shocked. (*sarcasm*) he has been politely asked to shiftez-vous and has done so with relatively little fuss. (Although some glorious French facial expressions and

Am very excited today. I had a lovely potter about Nîmes this morning and a very delicious lunch! But in a little Carrefour I found my favourite French sweets (they're fruit hard sweets with a chewy centre). I haven't seen them for years. May have bought 2 bags. Should last me to Christmas! OMG!

Time for excited squeaking today. Double decker TGV (pictured) and LOADS of flamingoes (sadly not pictured). Oodles of flamingoes today which was wonderful. I am overnighting in Nîmes which I have visited before, so will do a little light touristing tomorrow morning before my next TGV and Eurostar

OK not content with sharing my lunch restaurant (which was fab) with some very heavily armed Spanish Police, the PAF (French border police) have just done a walk through of our train checking passports. They appear to have detained a number of people..... I'm not a fan of armed police....

So the sun sets on my holiday. *sniffle* I love it here (even if I wish to never see fish again). But I have lost another chunk of weight since I've been here and lost a few cms too. I need to buy some new clothes! (Hotel is Palasietin Benícassim)

Having said the water was warm off thr beach, it has been noticeably cooler in the past couple of days. A momentary "oooh" when you first get in, but nothing major. There's a plunge pool here which is 12C. That's North Sea in summer temps. I am not going in there. Heck. No.

It's slightly worrying how warm the Med is at the moment. Like the water is proper warm. Iron-man Barcelona was cancelled today as they're expecting more storms. Warmer seas means more moisture in the air. There have been awful storms in the Med over the last few days.

Yes, yes, flying is faster and probably cheaper. But I've arrived, got settled in and had a very delicious (late) lunch. And a free room upgrade (yay). No for a short siesta and then the beach is calling my name....

Estoy en un tren otra vez... And gradually my Spanish is reviving. Managed (just after a brain freeze) to say my room number at brekkie. Last leg today. My phone exploded as I got into the hotel last night with weather warnings for storms. Humph.

Arrived, exhausted, in Barcelona. About 25 minutes late. Which is a shame, but at least I'm in my hotel room (which is pleasant) and shortly heading for bed. Spanish telly on in the background on the off chance I understand a word. I am so tired.

"Double decker TGV!" she squeaked excitedly. Never fails to give me a boost. Double decker trains are cool. Double decker super-fast trains are next level cool. Yes, yes, that probably makes me a nerd. "Bof" *Gallic shrug* et le soleil brille. *grins*

There's an awful number of bloody Brits on the train (yes, technically I am a bloody Brit). Thankfully there are 2 Spanish ladies sitting close by me so I can start to tune my ear in for the next 10 days.
