Exactly what we need in the absence of a functioning U.S. Department of Justice. An organization of ex-prosecutors and investigators who can put cases together for future prosecutors who will restore accountability for corrupt federal officials and those who benefit from that corruption.
We are facing a crisis of impunity. That's why we built The Rule of Law Project — to investigate unlawful conduct by federal officials, and work with state and local prosecutors to hold them to account.

"We will discuss defense and economic cooperation, strengthening Ukrainian air defense, and new steps to support Ukraine," Zelensky said on X upon his arrival.

This is the first and last (honest) piece of advice I will ever give Donald Trump. Run. Get in your Qatari hooptie-jet and run home to Mother Russia. Maybe your buddy Vlad will hide you when The US Constitution comes for you.

Engineers confirm serious damage to Kyiv's Southern Bridge.
Train traffic has been restored in one direction, but the reinforced concrete structure of the bridge, road lanes, metro structures, and engineering systems were all damaged and take a long time to repair.
I often think about Niemöller’s powerful warning.
Its relevance to our current predicament cannot be overstated.
If America’s silent majority chooses to remain silent right now, they risk being silenced forever…and the world will suffer for it.
This is our test.
It’s our time to step up.

Those who wish to stay under occupation will be taken to Simferopol, Crimea.
Oleshky's evacuation begins on Friday.
Ukraine will take names of those who want to come to free territory and try to ensure their onward passage from Anapa.
The ceasefire ends on Saturday night.
With Election Day less than a week away, time is running out to turn in mail ballots.

Nothing says "the media manufactured the Russia hoax" than going on a hunting trip with one Russian oligarch right after another Russian oligarch had paid for your wedding.

Another despicable attack by Russia in Kherson, possible carried out by those "poor Russian conscripts" Elon has affection for.
A 67 year old man was killed when a minibus was attacked by drones. Five other passengers were injured.
Flowers were laid at the bloodied place the man died.
Hello again and thanks for joining me on Day 1705 of Russia's attempt to remove Ukraine from the map.
Time for another daily thread, with all the fact-checked news of the war in one handy thread, updated throughout the day, every single day, without fail.
Long road journey this morning and it's difficult to compile today's thread yet.
There has been another missile attack on Kyiv in the early hours this morning, but first catch up on yesterday's news, including the first wave of missiles in my almost 60-post thread:

We are starting the 244th week of Russia's all out war.
Putin's "second army of the world" is more than 1,700 days behind schedule in reaching Kyiv.
Ukraine stands proud, stays free on Day 1706 of the Kremlin's full scale invsion.
Here's my daily🧵- gifts of coffee welcome!

280 long-range attack drones were used by Russia in the overnight attack.
Ukraine shot down/suppressed 255 UAVs which is a good 91% success rate.
But there were missile and drone strikes at 25 locations.

Meanwhile, after the second wave of missiles overnight, it's thought Putin's horde launched about 20 ballistic missiles at Kyiv.
Only two were shot down, and neither of those with Patriot missiles, so it seems Ukraine is again completely without its best defensive systems.

Probably the first thing to report should be the situation in Oleshky.
The humanitarian ceasefire began 10 hours ago and is holding so far, as aid agencies look to get food + medicines in to the town in Kherson region and people out.
I am sure you know by now that Russia launched multiple waves of missiles on Kyiv's population again last night and this morning.
Before that Ukraine continued its targeted attacks including hitting data centres in occupied territories.

The bad news is that the Americans promised an independent, journalistic TV crew would be allowed to film everything in Oleshky, but we got neither, as Trump's lickspittle channel NewsMax was given the opportunity.
So far, nothing from them at all.
The leaders of Norway and Finland today called Putin "as leaders and not as representatives of the EU"
Pres Alexander Stubb + PM Jonas Garh Støre had spoken with Zelenskyy before and after speaking with Moscow's indicted war criminal. Stubb said "Direct dialogue is necessary to end the war."
One other story from occupied Kherson that needs highlighting - Russia up to its old Soviet tricks again, forcing out locals and re-populating with Russians.
Of course not even Russians move to Oleshky, the town abandoned by the occupiers, and I'm certain NewsMax won't raise it.
At this point, the case that Pete Hegseth is a Russian stooge is pretty strong. And there's no shortage of folks in upper echelons in the Pentagon who are persuaded of that, too.
Directly contrary to what you hear on Fox News every day, red counties across America have languid economies, whereas blue counties are more vibrant. And it follows, as WaPo documents, that in red counties, costs have outpaced wages dramatically, and this is also true of the battleground districts.
In a phone conversation with Norwegian PM Støre and Finnish president Stubb, president Vladimir Putin makes the case that the time has come now for Europe to follow Trump's lead and end all sanctions against Russia. Afterwards there can be some discussion of peace in the special military operation.
