I can’t help but feel that maybe by using more suggestively cute language, like “unalive” and such, instead of letting the unpleasant words be unpleasant, is causing the power of those words to lessen. Like if someone says “my dad was unalived” it’s sounds cutesy but “my dad was killed” has weight.

Just in case you’re a white supremacist and you’re thinking about using Superman or Captain America or really most Marvel and DC super heroes for your racists bullshit: They were created by Jews. They are the children of Jews. Keep your gross-ass hands off of them, they’re for the marginalized.

Alright, motherfuckers, here’s something that needs to be made crystal clear: Captain America PUNCHES Nazis. He punches fascists. He punches bullies. If you depict him as supporting any of those fuckers, you. Are. WRONG. Fuck off, fascists.

…know the scene in BTTF where Doc goes “Ronald Reagan? THE ACTOR!?” And then he goes on to list a bunch of other absurd high political office positions like Jack Benny is Secretary of the Treasury…yea, this feels like that. Except it’s the real world.

It occurs to me that I his was probably inevitable. We as a species gained essentially limitless access to information and knowledge. We became more connected than ever before at any point of any species on the face of this planet. But somehow we expected that to be seen as a positive for everyone.

I’ve been stuck in functional freeze, I think, for almost two full years. Burnout just as long. Before the election I wasn’t doing great mentally. Since the election I haven’t wanted to leave my bed. I feel like the possibility of anything getting better is just gone and I am struggling.

Know what? Comic books are fucking awesome. Old, new, your own personal golden age, they’re rad. Are there books and writers and artists I don’t care for? Oh hell yea. But it doesn’t mean the comics I love are gone.

Here’s another awesome page I lettered, from Joe Kachedourian’s “Identity Stunt 2”, available in print from Markosia and on ComiXology. This book challenged me in the best way and made me a better letterer, especially with SFX.
