The position is for up to four years and qualifies for habilitation (German qualification for full professorship), leaving ample opportunity for you to grow as a scientist and pursue your academic dreams.

Your tasks will include extending our wet lab facilities and taking over teaching obligations. In addition to in-house topics along the line of imaging information flow in bacteria, you will be encouraged to pursue your own projects.

So happy to finally see my last work from my time at @mib-wur.bsky.social out! Big thanks to @nicoc-micsynmet.bsky.social, @hohlbeinlab.bsky.social and all other co-authors for their invaluable support throughout the whole process!

Laboratory of Microbiology@mib-wur.bsky.social

A basic control processes of microbial life, the control system of genome replication can be made simpler in E. coli, giving insights for synthetic cells! Work by @loreoliv.bsky.social, Belen Adiego-Perez and others. Now in Science Advances: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

How is it going? Problems with prototype autofocus/focus stabilization performance => ask microscopy company to demo their microscope body with (perfect) focus stabilization => focus stabilization unit apparently currently broken awaiting repair... Kafka is calling.

If you are like me, you start every morning by making yourself a coffee with a moka pot. β˜•οΈ While you wait for the coffee to bubble up, you can now explore how it works: compphys.univie.ac.at/Moka I made this (thank you, Claude!) for my thermo and stat phys course, but perhaps you enjoy it too.

(LinkedIn cross post) 0.11.3 of #webSMLM released. Since 0.11.0 we added: headless spectral SMLM runs, *.ND2 loading, single particle tracking (sptPALM, Nile red PAINT, etc), light (see below), dark or high contrast mode; *.svg export of plots, change to MIT license,... (1/2)

I am looking to recruit 2 postdoctoral fellows to the lab to work on a recently funded project focused on class switch recombination in B cells. If you are interested in immunology, gene expression, and RNA and protein single molecule imaging, please reach out (schmi706@msu.edu). Please share!

Rough scaffolding of setup #2 done at Brandenburgische Technische UniversitΓ€t Cottbus-Senftenberg. Can actually test here the earlier reported effective vibration isolation for #SMLM using a bicycle inner tube. (Cross post LinkedIn)

Quick career update. Since beginning of March, I am appointed as Professor of Biosensorics at the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU, Germany). Expect more single-molecule and single-cell inspired stuff & #OpenMicroscopy soonTM (🧬,🧫,πŸ”¬,πŸ§ͺ).

My sincere thanks goes to all students, PhDs, pdocs, colleagues and friends who have supported and inspired me in previous years! I will keep a part time affiliation with WUR to continue existing projects.

Guess we are living in the future now. Just submitted a manuscript and the website retrieved most information (abstract, names, etc) from the submitted files. I did not have to type everything again! 🀯 (disclaimer: keywords and authors’ contributions were not automatically detected...)

Great to see our Science Review on emerging multiplexed single-molecule methods that use libraries to link sequence to dynamics. A fun collaborative writing project! From sequence to function: Bridging single-molecule kinetics and molecular diversity | Science www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Good resource for everyone interested in objectives and microscopy πŸ‘‡

Yes I wish the FOV on Nikon (and other) objectives was better specified. Some models are labelled OFN22, others OFN25. The new TIRF series is supposedly compatible with the new Ti2 platform (25mm FOV) but I can't find a definitive spec. More thoughts here: amsikking.github.io/microscope_o...
