🎉 We are now including information on the national parties of MEPs in all of our data! 🔍️ While the focus in the EP mostly is on the political groups, these contain members of many different national parties: A 🇩🇪 EPP MEP might be a member of the CDU, a 🇫🇷 RENEW MEP might be a member of Rennaisance.

While proponents argue the resolution aims at ensuring now "single euro of European money goes to beneficiaries who do not respect European values", others argue it "criminalises Muslim participation in civil society and politics".

First, the EP resolution on hybrid attacks and the instrumentalisation of migration in Ceuta passed with EPP, ECR, PfE and ESN support. But this was not a simple left–right split: Renew was divided, and Spanish polarisation was uploaded into European group politics. Data from @howtheyvote.eu:

The vote today in the EP on Ceuta was another case of the EPP voting together with the far-right (via @howtheyvote.eu). It was also a vote the EPP claimed showing a divide 'between those for stand for a strong Union' with EPP and far-right groups together on one side.

Motions to reject have been more and more common over the last few months, where we often had a motion to reject from the far-right and then another vote on the motion itself. This change should make these easier to interpret - let us know what you think!

🚨 Tomorrow will be interesting for everyone looking at how conservatives and the far-right behave: We'll have votes on a resolution on the recent "migration crisis" in Ceuta. Right now, 7 resolutions are tabled; only joint motion comes from Greens & the Left group. @nvondarza.bsky.social

Narrow majority to allow the urgent motion to reinstate #ChatControl 1.0 mass scans. 331 in favor. 304 against. 11 abstentions. A dark day for privacy and democracy. On Thursday, there will be a vote on the substance of the law. Only an absolute majority can stop it. 🚨 https://fightchatcontrol.eu

🐛 European Parliament's plenary is in session this week - but votes are **not** up on our site! We are facing a technical problem that won't be fixed Immediately due to complexity and our resources. We have workarounds in mind and post here when things run again. Votes will be backfilled.

For the curious: The EP website starting blocking automated requests. This was already happening to specific runners before, but now all our machines are impacted. Ironically, this also applies to data that is by definition intended to be read by machines.

Highlight of the month: the EP's interim position on the next MFF. EPP, S&D, Renew + Greens carried it - but only with 56% in favour. PfE, ESN and most ECR voted against, plus Meloni's FdI abstaining. Voting data from @howtheyvote.eu. A taste of how hard the real MFF vote will be next year.
