I often wonder how many people surrounding #Trump must be on the edge of flipping out, like, all the time. Imagine having to listen to him talk *all the time*. Even if you're profiting from his policies, people around him must be desperately repeating, "This will all be worth it," to themselves.

It all needs to be technologically feasible, of course, and I'm sure a bunch of stuff is not. It needs to be policeable and trustworthy, to prevent a bad #Government from causing the harms that companies are causing right now. /10

Until we get a world where advertising can be cleaned up, where the industry is preventing from absolutely running amok, fuck your site's need to show me ads. Fuck your "You're stealing content!" cries. You rely on worse theft to fund your site, so #FuckYou. Do better.

The industry is run by the worst people, with an insatiable appetite for all of your data, and powerful desires to control what you see. They prove constantly they are not honorable people who can be trusted with the things they steal from you, so we need legislation to force them to change. /8

#Tracking and #Fingerprinting need to be made illegal. #Consumers need recourse against companies that misuse their information. They need to be able to remove their data from websites in a reliable manner. It would be great to be able to essentially #Defederate bad actor ISPs. /9

Websites are trying to #Fingerprint you by playing silent sounds in your browser tab to identify you by measuring the response of your sound card drivers. Saying you don't want to be tracked *does* *not* *stop* *them* *from* *tracking* *you*. /6

When the web was first getting started, #SiliconValley managed to deter #Legislation and #Regulation as harmful to a nascent industry. It is not a nascent industry anymore, and shows constantly that they cannot be trusted to do what they say they'll do. /7

The privacy invasions by #Google is disgusting. All the social media sites that embed content on other websites is the same. You're blocked because you're hostile, deceptive, untrustworthy, and out of control. I'm happier blocking embedded #X and #Facebook posts than I would be by seeing them. /4

My wife made the mistake of asking for a home improvement quote on some rating website, and now she's beset with phone calls every day, even after ending the request, from all kinds of companies unrelated to what she originally wanted. /5

That's a particularly obnoxious way to get someone to whitelist you in their adblocker, enough that I'm happy to forego the visit. I can see the thinking on the wbsite's part: most sites can only exist through #Advertising income, so adblockers are a real blow to them. /2

But the web advertising world is a cesspool. There's just no way I'm going to allow ads when I know it opens me up for all kinds of #Tracking and #Privacy invasions. There's no real choice on my part: I have no real insight into what I'm permitting by whitelisting you. /3
