Thought Maura Higgins was being dramatic for the package about dizziness in the lifts only to watch Mark fling her around like a rag doll. Girl I'm sorry for doubting you.

If you see me, someone who claimed to be done with SJM after crescent city, fighting for my life to get ACOSH from my local library tomorrow... No you didn't. 🫣 #booksky 📚💙

Review: The Daily Bunny Book by Will Quinn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Absolutely adorable. I've always loved the Daily Bunny on social media, so this would be a lovely fit for my house. Sneak a peek at the special guest 🤭 would love specific dates on the art. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Needlemouth by K-Ming Chang ⭐️.5 Not. For. Me. This book is weighed down by its heavy reliance on imagery over action and its (literal) shit talk. If you like body horror centered on women and you can get past that, this is for you. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Threnody by Cas E. Crowe DNF @ 20% (for now) For some reason, I really didn't connect with this book or its characters. I think I might revisit it one day. My disconnect certainly isn't the fault of the story. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Love You to Death by Jenna Levine ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 I enjoyed this, but the romance felt rushed. With so many corporate Death romances coming out, I just don't think this was the strongest I've read recently. Still a great read! #booksky 📚💙

Review: Bitter Pill by Clement Xavier ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Phenomenal illustrations and storytelling. The only reason I gave four stars is that the ending felt really rushed compared to the first half of the book. Highly recommend. #booksky 📚💙

Just when I thought I could stop buying second copies of books 🫣

We’re pleased to announce, in collaboration with Rachel Gillig and Orbit, our Illumicrate Exclusive: The Stonewater Kingdom duology!

Review: Once in a Timeline by Iman Hariri-Kia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved this Groundhog Day adaptation, updated for the modern age. The satirical tone handling influencers was hilarious, especially in the first 20% of the story. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Once, Again, Always by Amanda Gayle ⭐️⭐️ Between the repetitive nature of the plot, the repeated need to talk/mention kids, and the surprise Dramione fic, this wasn't for me. #booksky 📚💙

Review: My Unfamiliar by Mara Rutherford ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely delightful! This was exactly what I wanted when I picked this book up on Netgalley. There was magic, romance, and a sense of adventure without overwhelming stakes. Highly recommend. #booksky 📚💙

SC Arts Commission approved funding for every arts organization except two of them this year. Those organizations? LGBTQ+ Arts. The reason? Art cannot promote "ideologies." I'm sorry... WHAT? I'm so tired of this. 🫠 Support queer artists. Especially if you live in a red state. It's tough here.

Review: Winterveil by Ava Reid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book suffered largely from it's pacing and dark content. I loved the concept, but the pacing kept me from really engaging with the idea. Warning for SA content. #booksky 📚💙

The system has always protected men. A promising career or "potential" has been proven time and again to be more valuable than the life and safety of a woman. Rage is a constant undercurrent in my life. What will it take to finally say enough? To protect women? To place value on them over men?

Review: Juliet + Juliet ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🙂‍↕️ I love queer happy ending retellings. Super cute spin on a classic story for teens looking for something light. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Love Felt Like This by Julie Olivia ⭐️ (DNF @ 47%) This was just not for me. The book relied heavily on tropes, simplistic characters, and predictable language choice. This would be better suited to someone looking for a quick, easy, mindless read. #booksky 📚💙

Dolly's death is devastating. As someone who loves reading and is passionate about children's literacy, I am so sad about this loss. She donated hundreds of millions of books for children across the US. She fostered learning. I'm literally in mourning. Don't call. Don't text.

Dolly Parton spent 80 years proving you could have big hair, a bigger heart, a brilliant mind and absolutely no patience for anyone who underestimated you. She gave us unforgettable songs, free books for millions of children, and enough wit, rhinestones and kindness to light up Tennessee.

2026 is over. There's no way Dolly Parton has passed and I have to live through the rest of this dumpster fire. Rest in peace to an icon. Dolly Parton was such a light in this dark world. Thank you for all the work you did for children's literacy. Truly devastating loss.

Review: Grim Tidings by B.K. Borison ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I'm so sad to say this book underwhelmed me. I still liked it, but felt the marketing had spoiled a bit too much for me to truly fall in love like with her other works. Don't read the quotes! Don't fall for the social media posts! Go in blind! #booksky 📚💙

Review: How My Fake Alien Boyfriend Learned to Cook and Saved the Family Business by Lacey Hawthorne ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fun, no-spice book that follows the exact plot as the title. At times, a bit melodramatic and unfocused for me. But super fun! #booksky 📚💙

Review: Reliquary by Hannah Whitten ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Help! My dead fiancé and the ocean are trying to kill me: the novel. This was an EXCELLENT and disgusting horror novel. The body horror was masterful. #booksky 📚💙

Review: (Mostly) Human Resources by Grace Viall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Honestly... expected more Jackalopes. This book is perfect for fans of X Files and rom-coms, which feels like an odd combination. I promise it works. Viall does an excellent job blending Appalachian folklore and genre-bending fiction. #booksky

My books are a bit scattered. First by age range, then by genre (kind of), with favorites in stacks all around the shelves, then non-fiction, which is split between rooms. It's honestly a lot of chaos from someone who works in a library but oh well...

I'm so tired of AI slop literally everywhere.... Ads, social media, articles, community events, etc. We did all of this pre-AI, we can do all of this without it now. It's all ugly and one-note anyway. 🫩

Review: Moon Deer by Yoann Kavege ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An absolutely stunning graphic novel whose largely silent work is matched by beautiful art and quick pacing. This has a huge twist that caught me totally by surprise. My only wish is that the end was a bit more justice. #booksky 📚💙

Checking my netgalley reviews and just realized it looks like someone either ran mine through AI or tweaked it with flowery language. My reviews aren't even that good. Why the hell would you run it through AI instead of reading the damn book? 🫩
