Citroën modernised its Ami range in 1969, with the new Ami 8 ditching the former 6 saloon's odd reverse-rake rear window for a (non-hatch) fastback look. The popular estate car version saw fewer changes. Despite the 8 in its name the range retained the same 602cc engine as before. #carbluesky

Scary incident at Birmingham Airport today. Jet2 B737 veered across the runway on landing, just catching the grass at the side. Not sure what went wrong but crew did well and thankfully no harm caused. Airport Action on YouTube was covering it.

Apparently my body doesn't want an extra hour in bed. Also, Friday there was a yellow warning for wind. Today is pretty much as bad and no warning. Wut?

This is so sad to see. It's a lovely car that I drove a few years ago. It was enjoying life in America until some idiot in a Honda had an incident.

Factoid: Skeletal & sectioned displays greeted London show goers for two recently introduced rivals - the Rover SD1 3500 & C2 Audi 100 though in the latter case it was the 4-cylinder version as the noteworthy 5-cylinder model appeared the following year… (📸: Autocar)

Porsche brought its 912 model back from the dead in 1976, for just one year and only in the United States. Known as the 912E, it filled a gap in the local range after 914 production ended before the new 924 arrived. The 912E had a 2.0-litre 90 hp flat-four in the 911 body. #carbluesky

A glorious meet! I remember it well.

Posting a random old car photo from my camera reel every day until someone says stop, or I forget. I hope @hubnut.bsky.social won’t mind me posting a pic of him before he was HubNut, with his very rare mk1 BX estate. This was at the Autoshite forum’s first ever meet-up, in Wiltshire in 2012.

I was always deeply suspicious of white chocolate and the Milky Bar Kid didn't really help with that.

I think I'm calling today a video editing day rather than video making. Gusting over 40 degrees with rain, and this is BEFORE the storm that hits tomorrow night into Friday.

I love how radical the supermini market was in the 1980s. This looks so Japanese. The Peugeot 205 looks so French. The Uno, pure Italian. The Metro? Well, yeah. It had a tough job.

I always thought these looked amazing. Would occasionally get a lift to school in one owned by a schoolpal's dad.

The pioneering Renault Espace had moved into its second generation in the early '90s, consolidating its niche at the top of the MPV market. The Champs Elysées, one of two special editions in this 1994 UK brochure, was billed as one of the most luxurious Espaces ever. #carbluesky

Go to your camera roll and search “boat” and then post a picture of a boat you like. What are these? They are called "Barco Rabelo" and used to transport the wine downstream from the Douro valley to the cellars to be aged and create Port wine

I didn't know the Range Rover now has four wheel steering. Is it bad that I just assumed it was broken?

I went to Cambridgeshire I saw things. A 1968 Ford Escort and a Morris Landcrab ute from New Zealand. Amongst other amazing things. All for auction with Cheffins this Saturday.

Had more content stolen for an AI video. Scarily this one has a full AI presenter who looks realistic. Over 5000 subs. The person who runs the channel seems quite miffed that I might raise a removal request. Maybe don't steal content? The video is full of clips stolen for all over.

On the one hand, I wish people wouldn't watch this shite. On the other, it's only because a channel fan did that I knew about it. The crafty sods know how to get around the automated content detection on YouTube.

Went to a Wetherspoons last night. Walked in and tables were not cleared. That tells you they're fire-fighting so we weren't very surprised when food and drink orders took quite a while. The attitude of others customers was shocking.

It was a disappointing experience from a customer service point of view but there were plenty of signs that they were struggling if people could be bothered to look. Maybe go to another pub if things are looking bad. Hassling already-struggling team members isn't helpful.

Other people were pestering the bar staff, slowing down service further. There were not enough team on so someone had messed up, or perhaps team had phoned in sick. It was clearly a situation out of hand but getting all uppety about it doesn't help.

Food was supplied via a dumb waiter so staff had to wait in a private area for the food to arrive from the floor above. The number of people who invaded this area to complain at the single waitress trying to dispense food was shocking.

Can't help feeling that the Green Party has managed to massively shoot itself in the foot just as things were looking promising. So much time wasted on a policy that achieves nothing other than fuelling further division. Give us policies that actually affect us.

Caliper rebuilding today, trying to find enough decent used bits to make two calipers. Then I realised I'd left the mew flexipipes at home...

Indeed! Local lad did well.

One of the most insane WRC Championships I have ever had the pleasure of watching. A phenomenal way to start bringing WRC back to the UK. Well done to Evans and Martin. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🇬🇧

Wow. Kemi Badenoch in openly Tory shocker. Those earning over £100k per year work harder than those who don't apparently. My arse.

You can work extremely bloody hard and earn bugger all. Earnings are rarely actually attached to how hard you work. But getting out of low-paid work is not easy. Are nurses not working hard? Teachers? How lazy of them.

Similarly, people complaining about the cost of the welfare state often don't seem to consider child benefit as a benefit. It clearly is!

Such a good car. I really need to film one.

Factoid: The 100 A Cherry was Datsun’s 1st FWD car though geeks will note this is not the original 1970 model as this car has larger taillights (unlike the slimline affair it had at launch) which was part of refresh the car got in June 1972. (📸: IG a/c finecarbrochures)

Is it possible we've scared the frothing angry types away already? We featured Trans Car UK in the Rustival video and the anticipated hate comments largely have not been seen. One or two niggly ones have been quietly deleted but almost every comment has been joyously positive. This is pleasing.

I have a long drive next week. Car choices are not looking good. Xantia will be gone. Aussie barge the obvious choice but with these fuel prices? No. I don't fancy it.

Which leaves the 2CV, which has knocked out the crankshaft. I suspect it would still do the journey but when hot, the oil pressure at idle is low enough to trigger the pressure light. Not recommended.

The Charade and 106 are in theory both options, but neither has working brakes. A weekend project maybe? Which one?

Next we have the Berlingo. Would be economical if it didn't have a diesel leak that gets worse with harder engine work. Parked up until I can fix it.

The exhaustion from Rustival wore off at 4:30am yesterday. Now I'm just back to the default of fairly tired. Did a bit too much yesterday which didn't help but when the local scrapyard says they have something interesting in, they're rarely wrong.
