@sluggodoug.bsky.social Today's movie there (American Werewolf in London) - bonus for the cameo by The People's Poet. One of those 80s iykyk moments.

What can I say - only @ogmatthewlillard.bsky.social could make someone give a shit about a high school bureaucrat and mourn his death. This version of Grayle was wildly different. Ewen High still deserved what it got, but Grayle warranted better.
What else can I say? It's here and well, I'm proud of it! Y'all should have a read, if that kinda weird thing gets ya. a.co/d/0jixZI8s
Today's nerdy reflection: that I not only helped alter a colleague's literary study path but that I got them to read Vernor Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep and @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social 's Annihilation. I'm sure there's probably a word to describe the feeling produced by folks reading books you rec.
Adding to the steaming pile is that it's a fucking VIDEO. Don't make us watch that. Be a writer. Type your shit up. We can actually read, you know. Gah. @briankeene.bsky.social was right. (Though obvs not his fault. π) Bleh. Think I'm gonna go kick some rocks or something now.
futurism.com/artificial-i... I feel ill.
Because cancer is an utter bastard. Rest easy now, badass. π www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...
My cup runneth over. @stephengrahamjones.com - muchas gracias, amigo. This has made my day.
(catches random IG post) - yeah, @stephengrahamjones.com , I'll agree with you on that Ketchum pick. The Girl Next Door, in addition to being genuinely creepy, also sits in the rarefied space devoted to "books that completely eat all the sunshine out of a day." It's the Eden Lake of print.
Mild amusement: the less than totally subtle attempts by academia.com to get me to pay for services, sending me emails to ask if I'm the person mentioned in whatever academic paper. Doubtful; I mean, most days *I've* barely heard of me - pretty sure the world has heard even less. π
@stephengrahamjones.com anything turn up? π€π€
Email scams aimed at writers are interesting & range in degree of sophistication. However, I'm thinking that obvious AI generated text & including things like [INSERT SPECIFIC DETAIL ABOUT HIS BOOK HEREβe.g., the way you handled the protagonist's isolation / the specific setting of your last novel]
TFW: writing a paper about the works of a writer as viewed through a particular critical lens while also able to read/see the postings this same writer - uncanny and mildly humorous given the details (a Foucauldian reading of @greatdismal.bsky.social Neuromancer). Consensual hallucination indeed.
@sgj.bsky.social - package should have (if one is to believe USPS) arrived, presumably undamaged. Hope you enjoy :-)
@sgj.bsky.social a random question: would it be possible to get a signed book plate, or send you a book to be signed? I'll even throw in a copy of my first book as incentive (plus uh, shipping). A long shot but we rarely get much if we don't ask.
Man. That season finale of Starfleet Academy. Assuming certain persons in DC watch that (and are capable of understanding symbolism or allegory worth a tin shit) that could have caused some serious ketchup flinging, given that it was as subtle as a falling piano. Stellar ending to the season. πβ₯οΈ
@sgj.bsky.social - with all the press and buzz on your upcoming book (super excited btw), I'm guessing/hoping a book tour and if so...the deep-seated wish for a Dallas appearance. π€
