I'm very self conscious about my mishmash accent voice that doesn't sound like it's from anywhere exactly. It's South London, West Midlands, Lancashire, East Asian English, Australian and US English all in one in different proportions.

for a few days now, I've been 50/50 using a tool that transcribes things I say and sends them as text chat in VR, instead of using my actual voice. People speak to me but my responses show up (near instantly) as text, which other players read above my head instead of hearing me speak back.

it's not all the time. but I've found that: - people find it easier to understand me, especially if they have A(u)DHD or similar - my accent doesn't get in the way - it allows them to feel like they have more room to talk to me - I feel more peaceful when I'm audibly mute to others

it's also super comfortable for me because I can speak any language and the output is english. It also puts me mentally back in an early 2000s instant messaging feel with less pressure to talk all the time.
