Total violation of free speech. One is not antisemitic for opposing innocent people being bombed into the stone age, and then the survivors being purposefully starved to death.

These people are monsters turning the government into something that only serves the wealthy and actively punishes everyone else. This is disgusting. These are not just cuts to government services. This is fascism.

Pope Francis was a good man. Hopefully, there is another to follow him.

NBC News@nbcnews.com

BREAKING: Pope Francis, a reformer who rattled the Catholic Church’s conservatives but inspired progressives by reaching out to gay people and championing the rights of immigrants and the poor, has died at age 88. nbcnews.to/443qclc

It would be nice if one of them could check on his welfare. I really fear for Andry's safety. Andry did nothing wrong, except expect a fair hearing for a strong asylum application. And Trump threw him into an El Salvador concentration camp. #andry #freeandry

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

Andry Hernandez Romero, the Venezuelan makeup artist sent to a notorious Salvadoran prison, claimed asylum in the US because he was persecuted as a gay man. Chris Van Hollen met in El Salvador with Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Andry lived in San Diego—why hasn’t Alex Padilla or Adam Schiff met with him? 🤨

And Trump continues to lie about them going down. Just like his approval numbers, which are falling but he claims are the best ever. A post-truth America.

As ongoing inflation continues to deplete household budgets, perhaps nowhere is the pinch felt more strongly than in grocery aisles. However, depending on where you live, the pain can be sharper than in other areas. cbsn.ws/4lFhQGG

Hegseth should be one of many fired and prosecuted for Signalgate. Instead, he continues to cause chaos in a position he was a DEI hire for. A functional alcoholic, not so much.

Who could’ve foreseen that it would be a disaster to put an unqualified Fox weekend host with a drinking problem and sordid personal history in charge of the military

Fascism is like a cancer, and it spreads. If we allow the government to take due process away from one group, how long until your group is targeted? That's why this cannot continue. Any MAGA thinking they are safe does not understand one mistake is enough to be targeted by a fascist state.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

"Due process is the essence of democracy. That’s what’s so alarming about what's happening today, when the govt is picking someone up on the street, sending them to a prison in El Salvador, and not bothering to ask if they’re guilty. That could happen to anyone. It’s off the charts authoritarian."

Ukraine was pretty much forced to give up its nukes by the United States. We need to keep our word or it will be a betrayal of Ukraine.

Fascism creeps up. It starts slowly. Working step-by-step. Methodical. You become so accustomed to the noise, you tune it out. Then the knocks come. First, it’s at others’ doors. You think it won’t land on your steps. But it will. It always does. That’s why we protest now—while we all still can.

Andry did nothing wrong. He applied for asylum because of persecution for his sexual orientation and political views. He had a strong case for asylum. Trump disappeared him to a notoriously dangerous concentration camp in El Salvador. He received no due process or fair hearing. #andry #freeandry

In the end, their incompetence may be the only thing that saves us...

Max Kennerly@maxkennerly.bsky.social

Honestly I'm glad they picked Harvard to try out this novel "we're mad" legal theory of revoking tax-exempt status, given its infinite resources, deep network of powerful alumni, and law school attended by 142 sitting federal judges. Good luck! 🫡

Our side has definitely let the crazies dominate the media ecosystem. That definitely needs to change if our country has any chance of surviving this rising fascism.

Jeff Tiedrich@jefftiedrich.bsky.social

Republican billionaires have spent every waking minute for decades funding right-wing thinks tanks and an entire media ecosystem. Democratic billionaires show up once every four years to donate to presidential candidates. that's the problem right there.

Trump officials are being threatened with contempt for blatantly ignoring the order to turn back the planes headed to El Slavador on March 15th. Now, hundreds of men, most with no criminal record, are in a foreign concentration camp. If only Trump could be charged with contempt...

Also, "I was just following orders" didn't work in Nuremberg and doesn't work at the ICC.

Tristan Snell@tristansnell.bsky.social

Fun fact: the International Criminal Court at The Hague does NOT recognize any immunity based on official title or diplomatic status.

Uh, no. It's not legal. A ridiculous question from someone working for the original American fake news network.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

DOOCY: Deporting American citizens to Central American prisons -- is it legal? LEAVITT: Well, it's another question that the president has raised. It's a legal question that the president is looking into.

And Trump is asking Bukele to build more concentration camps in El Slavador to house "homegrowns." A term that can only refer to American citizens. We are in dire straits here, folks.

George Takei@georgetakei.bsky.social

This is in fact what we have done. Foolish, shortsighted, appalling.

One of the most unhinged press events for Trump, which is saying something. Trump has no intention of bringing anyone illegally sent to that El Salvador concentration camp back to the United States. In fact, he'd like to send American citizens there and asked for the facility to be expanded.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump says he'd like to deport US citizens to El Salvador: "I'd like to go a step further. I don't know what the laws are, we always have to obey the laws, but we also have homegrown criminals that push people into subways... I'd like to include them in the group of people to get out of the country"

That disgusting photo op at CECOT by Krisi Noem is certainly a crime worthy of prison. Just add it to the increasingly long list of illegal outrages.

This is a concentration camp that American tax dollars is paying for. This is disgusting. Please call your Congress member and ask that we get all the people back we sent there, and stop paying for this cruelty! Especially Kilmar Abrego Garcia!

This story just keeps getting worse. Andry did nothing wrong. He applied for asylum and ended up in an El Slavador concentration camp. America betrayed him. Trump and all who support him are complicit in such cruelty. #Andry #freeandry

Jonathan Blitzer@jonathanblitzer.bsky.social

USA Today dug into the history of one of the private contractors who helped make the baseless decision that Andry Hernández Romero, a gay makeup artist from Venezuela, was a gang member. Looks like the contractor—and not Andry—was the one with the suspect history: www.usatoday.com/story/news/i...

Yes. SCOTUS will allow disappearances. The conservative supermajority doesn't care about the law or personal liberties. Would love for them to prove me wrong.

Mother Jones@motherjones.com

The Supreme Court will soon issue a decision in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man whom the Trump admin admits it deported due to “administrative error.” The ruling will be a make-or-break moment, not just for Abrego Garcia, but for what kind of country we are going to be.

As it stands Trump’s blanket 10% tariffs are still estimated to cost the average U.S. household roughly $1,500 per year, according to the Center for American Progress. And that doesn’t include the 125% tariffs on China and other additional levies.

No. Trump isn't a genius playing 28-dimensional chess. He's a supervillain playing games with the lives and finances of hundreds of millions of Americans. Many tariffs are still in place, including a blanket 125% tariff on China. There's nothing to celebrate here. Don't get Stockholm Syndrome.

What if they are already there? How do they challenge their removal from a concentration camp in another country? Trump and his minions are already treating them like they are on the moon and unreachable. Such a shameless ruling that continues the cruelty done to them.

Mother Jones@motherjones.com

The ruling is a significant win for the Trump administration. Still, it did set limits on President Donald Trump’s plans for mass, summary deportations—each detainee must be afforded a chance to challenge their removal under the Act in court.
