It looks like an AI generated image of the Kennedy Center being demolished by machines on the roof. Probably printed and enlarged by Natalie Harp

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

as someone pointed out to me, it looks like the placard could read "Kennedy Center DEMOLITION"

This would be like be putting a stone slab over my clogged toilet and telling people I have complete control over the flow of water.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump, who clearly feels he isn't getting enough attention this morning, lies that "the U.S.A. has total control over over the Strait of Hormuz. I THINK WE WILL KEEP IT! ... Praise be to Allah!" Completely demented.

If Trump had real evidence he’d do something official about it right away and not tease it like it’s some reality show prime time reveal.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Ossoff: "Here's what's going to happen tonight: the world's most famous sore loser will deliver a prime-time presidential sour grapes address to pursue his 6-year-old grievances about the 2020 election, while his war in the Middle East spirals out of control & the cost of living continues to rise.."

Are people really trying to say Taylor Swift reversed the Trump jinx on the Knicks? I’m sorry. They played like ass in the first half and Taylor was there. But then Wu-Tang played the halftime show, and the Knicks staged the biggest comeback in NBA finals history. Give credit where credit is due 👐

this court would authorize all-white primaries if it could find some facially neutral means to do so

Mark Joseph Stern@mjsdc.bsky.social

This heinous ruling confirms a worst-case-scenario reading of Callais as an all-purpose shield for racist lawmakers who want to gerrymander Black communities into electoral oblivion. And it’s outrageously partisan—a totally unprincipled gift to the GOP. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

OK. So it’s time for the Democrats to actually have a message. That’s not simply “we’re not Republicans“

Adam Kinzinger@adamkinzinger.substack.com

The Virginia redistricting ruling is real, and the structural headwinds are real. But so is the path forward. What today's ruling actually means, what the right will lie about, and why the only answer is the oldest one in politics — persuasion, coalition, show up. open.substack.com/pub/adamkinz...

I think the point that’s being lost here is that political gerrymandering has become synonymous with racial gerrymander. When one party becomes the party of white nationalism, political gerrymandering becomes racial gerrymandering on its face.

Well now it’s up do the Democrats to be better. They can’t be content to just sell themselves as “not republican”(which seems to have been the game plan since GWB was in office). They have to prove to be such an attractive populist option that voters can’t stay away.

Mother Jones@motherjones.com

Roberts' Court just issued 3 major decisions gutting the Voting Rights Act, continuing to spend Trump’s second term not applying the law so much as clearing it out of the president's way.

I feel like a broken record, but these guys are such dorks.

David Simon@audacityofdespair.bsky.social

In the event the Iranian negotiators are all 11-year-old boys who have supped heavily on Nintendo, we are going to quickly resolve this heedless, disastrous war. Otherwise, no. This is not going to impress any grown-ups engaged.

These guys are such dorks. And why the obsession with Kid Rock. Aren’t there MAGA celebs cooler than Kid Rock? Does hanging with Kid Rock provide them with ANY cultural or political capital to spend? It’s so strange.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Kid Rock flew in military helicopters together on Monday, weeks after the Army came under scrutiny for a flyby at the singer’s home. nyti.ms/4e9lG9I

This sounds like Blanche wrote this not for the purpose of being persuasive to a judge, but for the purpose of getting “good boy” from his boss.

Popehat@kenwhite.bsky.social

This is how the United States Department of Justice writes now.

My god these guys are such fucking dorks.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rep. Warren Davidson: "We had essentially the whole chain of command in one place. People say, 'That's a lot of vulnerability,' but it's also a flex, saying, 'Iran, there's really nothing you can do about it. Shed tears, whatever, but you can't influence things in the United States.'"

How long before Mr. Beast becomes the new Secretary of Labor?

Popehat@kenwhite.bsky.social

In the business we call this a “College Client,” not because they’re smart, but because they let you afford to send your kids to college. Alternatively “Beach House Client.”

Spare me. The GOP (plus Fetterman) will approve it

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Exclusive: The Pentagon asked the White House to approve a more than $200 billion request to Congress to fund the war in Iran, according to an administration official, a new ask that will likely run into resistance from lawmakers opposed to the conflict.

Trump diplomacy: insult our allies, hold them hostage financially, tell them we don’t need them, fuck something up royally, beg our allies for help, cry when they refuse, invent a fake “peace board” to collect bribes from corrupt countries.

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

Excuse my language, but Trump is a delusional, narcissistic, lying piece of shit.

But what if the underwriters still won’t insure the ships? Will anyone risk going through?

Chris Murphy@chrismurphyct.bsky.social

Here’s my plea to the national security press: don’t report what he announces at face value. You’ve been suckered over and over to cover his fake trade deals and ceasefire “announcements” like they are real. He’s desperate to look like he’s got a plan. Make sure it’s not fake.

The dichotomy between how cool these guys think they are versus how big of losers they come across as will never cease to amaze me.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

I regret to inform America that this was just posted by the HHS Secretary.

Just like MAGA voted for

MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com

Graham: You see this hat? Free Cuba. Stay tuned. The liberation of Cuba is upon us. We’re marching through the world. Iran is going down and Cuba is next.

I have been listening to a lot of DMX recently and I would like to officially state for the records that I do not, in fact, think it’s a fucking game.

Is this what the poor people who voted for Trump asked for?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Dr Oz: "We're announcing a 6 month national moratorium blocking all new enrollments for durable medical equipment -- prosthesis, orthotics -- supplies across the board."

Like the promise of voting on health care subsidies that ended the last shutdown? Jesus grow a spine. Make they reign in the federal agents NOW. Then fund the government

NPR@npr.org

A spending agreement under consideration in the Senate would temporarily fund the Department of Homeland Security while lawmakers negotiate provisions to rein in federal immigration agents. n.pr/3NOyIya

Any Democrat that votes to fund the government after this needs to be voted out of office. I don’t care if it’s shut down for the next three years. This madness has to stop.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Starting February 1, we're not making any payments to sanctuary cities or states having sanctuary cities"

Been saying this for a while now and it’s 100% true. Shame is a useful tool that helps us change into better people. Without it, we get MAGA.

Dare Obasanjo@carnage4life.bsky.social

The most depressing lesson of the Trump era is that scandals don’t matter if the perpetrator and their supporters don’t feel shame. Shamelessness is now a political superpower.

The funny thing is that if Pete Buttigieg had scolded people and asked them to dress nicer on airplanes, MAGA would have responded by dressing in a blanket with a hole cut in the middle and covering themselves in feces and fish guts while in the airport security line.

Share a 90s movie you think deserves more love...

C. Robert Cargill@crobertcargill.bsky.social

Share a 90s movie you think deserves more love... The fucking supporting cast in this movie is absolutely insane. Sig! Baranski! Dukakis! Batt! Lane! Garber! Klein! (Robert, not Kevin.) Manheim! Najimy! And Patrick Steward steals every frame of the movie he's in. An absolute banger.

So it sounds to me like the plan is to invade Venezuela, steal the oil, turn the nation into our own sweat shop, and then - I assume - deport any undocumented immigrants to Venezuela so they could work in that sweat shop. Is that right?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Salazar: "In Congress we've understood that China, we need to bring those jobs back. Maybe to the United States, but maybe near-shoring or rear-shoring. Maybe it's time to bring those jobs to Venezuela and to Chile and to Bolivia and to Central and South America. They happen to be in our back yard."

If the fraud is this bad and this rampant, where are the arrests?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Brooke Rollins on food stamps: "We know the SNAP program is rife with fraud... what we've found is stunning. 186,000 deceased individuals receiving benefits, 500,000 getting 2 times the benefit, we found thousands of individuals getting benefits in 6 different states. It is one thing after another."
