This issue was unbelievably competitive given just how many submissions we recieved, but no matter what, you should be so proud of your writing and your art! Thank you again everyone, and we cannot wait to share 06: Alchemy with you soon. 💛🤎🤍

The end of September means it's Best of The Net time! From our latest issues, we are so proud to champion these members of our Collective for the upcoming award season. Congratulations! 💛 And if you haven't yet, make sure to check out each issue and see exactly what you're missing out on.

Hi all, we’re posting this because we want to highlight that this is not an appropriate nor a professional way to engage with a literary magazine. If our policy of requiring pronouns and trigger warnings is not agreeable to you, you are more than welcome to submit to another magazine.

And our next phase begins: reading 🤎 We have so much exciting things to share coming soon, and of course, thank you so much for all of your support in helping us gather everything we need to make 06: Alchemy our best issue yet. Thank you, and we'll share more soon. 📜🧪⚗️🤎⚡️🌿

Since this has come up in our submission forms. No, we will not remove the "BS questions" such as asking for pronouns or if your piece contain trigger warnings. It's about mutual respect. Both EICs are queer & we often publish very queer work. If that upsets you, we are not the lit mag for you.

We are a small team. Work is read by three people, both EICs and our staff reader. Informing us of TW and CWs simply gives the team a heads-up, and we publish this information too, just in case any reader may find a specific topic disturbing, to say the very least.

We open for submissions TOMORROW! In light of this new era of TIWC, we have updated our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions. We are still the independent magazine you know and love: we will never charge a submission fee and will always pay upon acceptance.

The most notable change in this submission period is authors and artists must be 18+ to submit and be published. This change reflects stronger data retention practices (safer for you!), and to not limit the work we accept. We are not a smut magazine, but sometimes myths can have mature themes.

My shirt story Saints, Babes and Madmen is in this issue of the Icarus Writing Collective. Read for free online or order a paperback! It is a tribute to Arthur Conan Doyle, bless his earnest heart. (Check out the Cottingley fairy photo hoax before reading to get the most out of it).

S. Leigh Ann Cowan (👉🏻/✋🏻; she/her) is a white, deaf, aroace, middle class, liberal arts-educated ciswoman. Her passion is for stories—not just the entertaining ones, but the stories that we tell about ourselves and others, and the hows and the whys and the whos behind the messages we send.
