Been thinking about this Grace Hopper "what is a nanosecond" since @umbraco.foundation last week. @jasonelkin.uk asked the audience "do we think 200ms is fast or slow?". In Hopper's example, that'd be 35,000 miles of wire (about 1.5 trips around the world) www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eyF...

Experience the Septopert. Not just the new smallest Nopert at 7 vertices, but the smallest possible! We now know every solid with 6 or fewer vertices is Rupert. Noperts Drop: github.com/tom7/noperts The triforce and eponymous 7 are not a cheeky Easter egg—simply a beautiful property of math!
This is an exceptionally good article describing the Flood Fill algorithm, and how to implement different versions of it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flood_f...
the road network, multi-state cells, and simple add/remove rules remind me a bit of cellular automata. Not exactly that, and definitely not what I was going for, but it's neat write a relatively simple program and have such complex outputs from it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automat...

Preparing for my talk at @umbraco.foundation (16 Oct) on using language models to find security issues in #Umbraco and #dotnet applications. Today I'll be intentionally building a super-insecure Umbraco application 🛠️🫣 2026.umbracofoundation.co.uk
I've been working on a little Entity/Component/System (ECS) game engine in C#/Monogame recently. I've blogged about the choices I've made, and how those choices have created issues for me further down the implementation process... www.liamlaverty.com/blogs/buildi... #gamedev #monogame #ecs
Hey @mattbrailsford.dev, now that github.com/umbraco/OurU... is archived, how do you pick up stuff for umb.fyi 's firehose?
www.etive-mor.com/blog/carlini... Carlini did a great talk at [un]prompted recently, detailing how Anthropic were using LLMs to automate software vulnerability discovery. I take a look at replicating his process in the Umbraco-CMS repository, for less than 1% the cost. #umbraco #security #llm #ai
Can a #LanguageModel paint? I've built an app which gets language models to paint a piece iteratively (one stroke at a time) rather than producing it in one-shot from a prompt. Not sure if this counts as #GenerativeArt www.etive-mor.com/blog/can-a-l... www.liamlaverty.com/paint-by-lan...

This is really fascinating Wikipedia's list of linguistic and stylist "tells" of AI writing, the better to help editors recognize it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...
In 2022/23 I did some research on #AI price setting algorithms. It's published here: www.etive-mor.com/blog/ai-coop... Throughout the research, models consistently colluded to undermine consumers. I'm hoping to recreate the research with LLMs as the economic agents in the near future.

@tailwindcss.com sent a newsletter out yesterday describing their journey to add dark-mode to their premium themes. They estimated it'd take them 6 weeks to implement dark mode on their premium themes. They instead used #AI & #LLMs to speed up the process, taking them only... 12 weeks
