I love reading the wiki article about Screamin' Jay Hawkins, the man behind "I put a spell on you" (also made famous by the CCR cover and many others). It's surprisingly detailed considered that he is mostly known for "that one song": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screami...
"bemoaned the Screamin' epithet given to him by his label, saying "If it were up to me, I wouldn't be Screamin' Jay Hawkins ... James Brown did an awful lot of screamin', but never got called Screamin' James Brown ... Why can't people take me as a regular singer without making a bogeyman out of me?"

This year's Nobel prize in chemistry is so incredibly cool and I hope to see this type of chemistry get more widespread use
This year's #NobelPrize in Chemistry was awarded for research which helps chemists make just one of a molecule's pair of mirror images 🪞 It's useful in making medicinal molecules and gives insights into why biological molecules are formed from single mirror-image building blocks 🧬 #ChemSky 🧪
"necroprinting" is the most 40k-coded term and I love it "3D Necroprinting: Leveraging Biotic Material as the Nozzle for 3D Printing" doi.org/10.1126/scia...

This "so dangerous it has to be useful" narrative is tedious, and highlights how little these companies have fear regulation in the current US environment. But it's worse. If and when the technology actually gets dangerous, the boy will have already cried wolf so many times we'll ignore him.
OpenAI’s top scientist, in a blog post on Sunday, warns that artificial intelligence is evolving so rapidly that it is becoming increasingly difficult for humans to understand and control it. Here is the post: openai.com/index/an-ali... And a couple of small excerpts--clear warnings.

Språkrådet sin "På Godt Norsk"-liste er full av så mange gode men også forferdelige forslag: sprakradet.no/godt-og-korr...
My colleague Sondre Bolland held this talk about AI and learning: www.youtube.com/live/7QLRiuA... A bit more nuanced take than what normally is discussed on this platform, and the studies described herein definitely have some major flaws, but I still think it’s worth checking out.

NEW | Wind and solar generated more power than fossil fuels in the EU for the FIRST time ever. 🌪️ and ☀️ made up a RECORD 30% of 🇪🇺 electricity, up from 20% just five years ago. https://ember-energy.org/latest-insights/european-electricity-review-2026/
