Provided by a company called Flock, these readers send data to Oakland's police department — with the alleged purpose of helping to fight crime. Unfortunately, the data can instead be used to threaten the safety of citizens who have committed no crimes — especially our immigrant neighbors.

If so, you were likely listening to various high-energy speakers, chuckling at the interesting and witty signage, and getting motivated by the surrounding crowd. You probably were not thinking about the various ways that things could go sideways, ranging from inattentive motorists to disruptive counterprotestors. IEB and other like-minded organizations have had a significant presence at countless political and social events over the years, more so during the Trump era.

It is now clearly understood and reported that pressure from Benjamin Netanyahu and Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia led Trump to believe he could easily effect regime change — as he recently (and illegally) did in Venezuela.
