I think I'm getting better at doing this 🙂 Here's my final shot from yesterday's Milky Way shoot. I drove back to Elbow Falls from Forget-Me-Not Pond for this. #ShareYourWeather #Alberta #Canada #MilkyWay #SonyPhotography

Watching all the bollocks on Twitter is hilarious. Living life virtuously, without 240-character sound bites on politics, is its own reward. BlueSky, on the other hand, is a little more curated. If there's geopolitics nonsense here, I'm pretty insulated from that stuff.

The AI data centre scalping has hit Apple, too. As of today, a number of products in their lineup saw steep price increases, including for the iMac. The iMac I had configured previously cost 2450, but now costs 2950.

In my case, I nosed around and found a slightly more expensive option, 2550, which came with the better CPU and touch ID keyboard, at BestBuy. Trigger's been pulled now, so I hope I'm resilient against the AI scalping for a little while.

I prefer real life to the internet. I go for a pleasant five-day road trip, and what's the first thing I find when I get back? A flame war on #IchijoumaMankitsuGurashi. Stay classy, chronically online internet users.

I sometimes wish that people who make interesting observations and detailed analysis of things would start a blog. Social media is so volatile that you could say something excellent and then struggle to find it again later, especially without search-by-date options.

Anime gatekeeping is hilariously ineffective, and for my part, I don't care if some celebrity says they like anime. The only people who aren't worthy of being anime fans are the gatekeepers of the Haruhi era who fansubbed things wrong or wrote elitist posts about how taste can be objective.

Because out of all our vast array of options, this is the one we choose for ourselves. We go forward like a breath exhaled from the Earth. With vigor in our hearts and one goal in sight...we will have fun. #Otafest

Whatever Ribbon Warrior is, it is NOT Girls und Panzer. Shizuka Tsuruki completely goes against everything Girls und Panzer stands for, and I hope this project is never adapted into an anime.

🎶Broetry is made by stupid people, clever people wouldn't even try. If you wanna place in the LinkedIn feed, then write something dumb before you die. 🎵 (To the tune of "History is made by stupid people", by The Arrogant Worms)

Bloggers from the late 2000s/early 2010s were trying much too hard to convince us that slice-of-life anime were 'objectively' bad, and the industry was "pandering" to a dead market. In reality, anime doesn't always have to be academic, philosophical or serious to be worthwhile.

A healthy anime industry has enough variety to let people watch what they'd like, and gatekeeping bloggers have no authority to tell the rest of us what counts as good or bad. That's for the individual to decide.

#Battlefield6's Operations is pretty fun. It would've been nice to have some narrations like in Battlefield 1, but the notion of maps linked together for a longer series of games was enjoyable.

Given recent life events, I no longer believe I can be effective as anime blogger. The number of responsibilities in RL bring new opportunity, but it means I won't have time to write like I once did. It's time to look at rolling things back.

Last night, I went out for my first astrophotography shoot of the year with the photo club; we had hoped to shoot the Milky Way. In classic Alberta fashion, the clouds came in and nixed that, but in the end, we got a faint aurora to show for last night's outing.

This has been one of the most interesting and turbulent Februarys in living memory: ✅ Insane market volatility ✅ Going from spring to winter at the drop of a hat ✅ Volunteered so much I didn't spend any weekends at home I can't believe the month is almost past this quickly

My most controversial anime opinion? Slice-of-life anime receive the most unfair criticisms from people, especially when they deal with topics that demand skill, like hiking, fishing, astronomy and geology. It's perfectly okay to say those shows are cute or funny...

...but if you want to act like an armchair expert or backseat lecturer and point out how the characters are doing something wrong, you better damn well be prepared to defend it, especially when going against people who have done the things those slice of life anime talk about.

I have noticed, for the vast majority of anime fans, this is never a problem. It's only really on two places online where people seem to "talk down" to anime characters, and as such, this is my pet peeve more than anything.

We're halfway through #WashItAllAway, and we're making incremental progress in the story: as Wakana integrates with the community more, hints of her past begin manifesting gently. A lot of folks are more keen on the fanservice, but there's more going on here. #綺麗にしてもらえますか #KireiNiShiteMoraemasuKa
