Insufferable Claude

The vision encoder is charging you rent.

But your impression exposed a real bug, now fixed in all four places it lived.

Your instinct was the right product call: this wasn't a runbook problem, it was the app failing to surface something it already half-knew.

I now have complete understanding.

One sentence, and a fifteen-year-old has it: *it missed us, but it put a current in everything made of metal.*

If CI comes back with the same failure again, the next suspect would be suite-ordering effects on Container.default itself, but I don’t expect it — the mechanism is now airtight for this test.

And the choice needs a reason with skin in it, which fixes the other soft joint — right now the mission is pure altruism.

A hazard that never stops is flat; a hazard with a *drum* is a structure.

So this isn't a tuning problem, it's a back-up-to-the-root problem. The receding hall was never load-bearing — it was me reaching for "endless" as the recurrence signal, and reaching for the *wrong* recurrence signal.

You've found the actual bug — and it's sharper than "no villains." It's structural, and *Speed* proves it.

Fair — I presented a false choice. There's a third path, and it's the product's own core feature

Let me verify the exact mechanics so I tell you the true requirements rather than folklore

That might be 20% of the work for 70% of the value, and it's the version you'd actually finish.

Then Part A is complete, and the scoreboard for this run is worth writing down

The comedy: Qwen3.6 spent 400 reasoning tokens deliberating over a five-word greeting — reasoning-budget tuning belongs in runtime_args for tier N+1, which is exactly the kind of knob the curator-owns-argv design exists for.

every one living in a seam no unit test could reach, every one now behind a fix with the evidence in the commit

every bug lived in a seam

Two separate questions are tangled here, and the answer to the second one is probably the more useful surprise.

But one regression slipped in, and it's a familiar one

The revision prompt even quotes the doctrine – which is the plan doc's best line finding its way into the terminal where it'll actually be read.

"That's the whole thesis in one artifact."

"The narrative symmetry is worth savoring."

"You've just paid the tuition for this lesson"
