Today is Helena’s Catholic feast day! To celebrate I’ve been to Trier to witness the display of her relics, stolen from her mausoleum in Rome in the ninth century.

Communication isn't about processing sound. It's about people. Interpreters read the pauses, the silences, the body language and everything that happens between the words. Reposted from @aiicworld #interpreterspeaks #interpreting #conferenceinterpreting #aiic #thatswhyAIIC

On 30 May French-German culture channel ARTE TV will show a documentary on Constantine to which I contributed in Rome & Trier. A first for me & a steep learning curve! I haven't seen it yet, but it will be available here 😬 www.arte.tv/de/videos/12... Pic: me & my man after shooting at Lateran.

Breaking news! Germany 🇩🇪 is the first country in the world to make it a punishable offence to spread lies and ask, suggest, insinuate, or otherwise tell a translator they would soon be replaced by AI. The new law will be implemented as from 1st April 2026, 18.00 German daylight saving time. #xl8

"In 1198, Pope Innocent III issued a decree that deaf people should be able to get married by making their vows in sign language." Lovely tale, & reminder these were NOT "Dark Ages", but time of innovation & care like any other: #Unlearn #DisabilityStudies theconversation.com/the-deaf-bla...

Thought for the day: just because #Trump says that #interpreters are very important (and then goes on to diss a series of them with much delight) it may not necessarily be a good idea to share the video as PR for the profession. I for one don't want that man's endorsement. #1nt
