i'm still thinking about this fucking forest temple stalfos fight acid pool thing. every youtube video with it just sorta glosses over the implications of every change (including some changes outside the dungeon). some even say the new version is harder which is like, what?? huh??

i like a hard zelda game but obviously it's more important if the games are cool and have cool interesting things, even if they're not hard. it's not hard to avoid falling into a pit, but there is tension when there's at least some risk of being annoyed for 1 minute as you make your way back

a little bonus of it being a pit in the original is that the room occurs after the twisted hallway, so if you're observant you might wonder how the hell you were walking in a sideways room and then fell down into a room you've already been in, but inexplicably you're rightside up again. wow!!

there's also the extra free bottle you get in castle town, which is more fairy revives if you found the fountain right outside the temple. youtubers called that a new side quest even though it involves talking to a guy who tutorializes bottles for you and then you're done

ign says the acid replacing the hole keeps the challenge in spirit but turns the floating stalfos into something more logical, and the fact that the hole doesnt get filled in halfway through means it's harder. this might be true if it killed you instantly or faster than a quarter heart per second

i'm watching a video of a guy walking all over the acid like it's nothing and he breezes through the fight because the stalfos also do half as much damage as on n64, side jumping now gives you i-frames (or the hurtboxes are inaccurate), and they don't revive if you're not fast enough. harder????

instead of walter white telling skyler he liked it and he was good at it, they should have showed him cooking meth in front of her while smiling and being jovial. the audience can infer the rest

another great example is in season 3 when skyler shows walt the door and tells him to leave. this is what puts the breaking bad writers above their contemporaries

the ultimate show don't tell flex is creating a character whose sole trait is dryly info-dumping boring lore and backstory, characterizing them as someone that the other characters are always annoyed with and hate talking to. if only they had listened, things would not have turned out so tragically

screenwriting kindergarten a student holds up an episode of their favorite cartoon and opens their mouth to explain why it's so great, but the teacher shooshes them show don't tell

fantastic

there's actually a really funny possible outcome of this: since this is the first key in the game, some new players might not notice the vines on the wall, and promptly leave the temple to go searching the entire rest of the game for a key. I really hope this happens to at least one person

i'm more interested in the ocarina of time remake because of all the bad design decisions they're making that make the game less interesting. very interesting

add an elevator shortcut to the block pushing room in the forest temple. ok. remove the pit in the stalfos fight that sends you down a floor if you fall down. remove the key from the opening room of the dungeon so there's no need to backtrack. the nice elevator you've added is now totally pointless

maybe pushing blocks through a maze is only part of what makes the room memorable at all. the fact that you still had to navigate it a few times afterward was a cool challenge in and of itself. a room where you had to time an arrow shot through a torch might not be hard but it is cooler than nothing

they have a habit of dumbing down sore points of their games in multiple ways at once such that they like, cancel each other out and just obliterate any kind of interesting or noteworthy moments

fun fact i sentence mixed the scary twin peaks poem here because i thought i could justify the absurd effort by repeating it over and over for like a minute (like in the show) later on in starlight's dream, but i ended up coming up with other stuff so i only used it once. this video is a fever dream

fun fact every time i added a new tv show, the scope of the video exploded and i had to resist the urge every time even if i thought of a good joke. the thomas stuff came pretty late so i was apprehensive about putting it in but i'm glad i did cause its some of my favorite stuff in there

fun fact i came up with "regular belt breaker" while i was making the old thomas ytp and didn't put it in for literally no reason. maybe i was just tired of editing at the time or something. so yeah i held onto that for 10 years. i hope you laughed at it

fun fact the song that plays for a second is "mi cucu" and its about staring at a girls ass. culo is spanish for ass and cucu is slang for ass, hence its placement here. i also used it earlier as a reference to the scene in bcs where a truck driver is jamming to that song and runs over a spike strip

Eight hours after the explosion of planet Earth, Kay is the only survivor. She drifts through a stream of space debris when she's picked up by a passing alien spacecraft… This is a preview of the first episode of the comic, from 2015-- you can keep reading here: softies.net/comic/book1-...

does anyone else have a 50 GB folder with all of the art you've made over the last 15 years in it, no sub-folders or diving lines or anything? you can just scroll all the way down to April 2011?
