The Mass Effect trilogy gets a lot of shit these days, but it was my Bioware series and I will always have a special place in my heart for the characters. Genuinely sad to see so much talent poured into the grinder for nothing.

Huge environment lighting inspo from @waypoint-events.com Constellations at the Opera House. It felt surreal walking into the venue we've been working on this past month

Had a great time at @waypoint-events.com Constellations last week. Felt like a real full circle moment for us as we continue to work on Mission 02 which is set inside the Sydney Opera House.

When they announced Galactic Racer I lamented the fact it wasn't all podracing. Now that I'm playing it, I love that they lean into how it supposedly takes inhuman skill to race them.

The scale of the Opera House level is already shaping up to be something special. Can't wait for people to enter the sails themselves when this mission is finally completed.

Huge thanks to everyone who has played the Opening Act demo so far! Because of your support, we are able to make Mission 02 a reality. Here's a little look at Klo's arrival at the Opera House.

Adam, the art director on this whole endeavour, has made a beautiful set of modular assets that allow me to have a lot of fun when making new sections of the S3PF Command.

We're looking for content creators who are interested in covering the OPENING ACT demo in whatever way suits your style and audience. We don't check DMs or emails for key requests, so this is the only way to show your interest > shorturl.at/tNDjS

OPENING ACT demo is LIVE! Big update with new lighting, story sections, and the first look at the playable hub area. There's a whole bunch of smaller fixes to make the experience better on controller as well as some extra surprises waiting for you. Find out how to get access below!

Starting to go through my film photos from Tasmania and feeling so grateful to have shared that experience with the love of my life. Shot on Lomography 800 + Nikon N50

Literally made this trailer in a day to get this announcement out before the weekend, hopefully it shows off the experience in an engaging way!

Kinda disappointed by Resident Evil, it nailed the mechanical feeling of the games throughout the opening half... But the decision to avoid the iconic monster designs in favour of something more akin to The Thing or Inside left it feeling like a missed opportunity to capture the true RE experience.

Resident Evil is so rich in visual identity, that slotting in the flesh ball monsters from Inside kinda did a massive disservice to all the good things the film was setting up in the opening third.

Ok, one last thing. I loved Bryan as a character and I guess the reason I was left so cold by the ending is cause why couldn't he shoot a rocket at a Tyrant? Why couldn't he run through a Raccoon City that felt true to the games? So much potential left on the table in favour of arms and tentacles.

This feels like a huge moment for myself and the team... Can't really explain the journey it's taken to get here, but I am so ready to look forward and see how development on the full game shapes up from this point.

We just rolled out a big overhaul to the playtest, so if you have access to that on Steam, you should re-install it. Major changes to lighting, new cutscenes, and the first look at the S3PF Command hub is all available. Proper announcement and trailer coming next month.

The ending really left me feeling cold, cause while it is certainly true to Zach Cregger's directorial tendencies, it does not match the mechanical or story escalation you find in the games.

I did not need to see characters from the games or straight recreations of plot points to be satisfied by the movie. All I really needed was monster designs that felt like they had the DNA of the games in them, more of an Umbrella presence, and a follow through of mechanical and story escalation.

Sydney landmarks will be added to the game until everyone finally realises this a game set in Australia, made by Australian based devs.

Without doing any research, I think Samurai Unicorn might be the first game where you can walk around a mostly accurate Sydney Opera House.

I love playing around with these scenes and teasing more of the story. Devin is one of my favourite corporate scumbags.

Samurai Unicorn@samuni.bsky.social

When Klo defeats a Dream Eater, you can always count on Devin Solomon and GRS1 to be the first on the scene. Goliath are hungry for new specimens and Devin is a dedicated company man...

As someone who has shot video and photography in public places both professionally and for fun, the cost of doing so should be a very visible camera that people on the street can see and react to. You should not have free license to capture images of people with complete secrecy.

When people see the camera and become uncomfortable, that is supposed to be your cue to assess what you're doing and whether it's appropriate. People have to be able to confront you when you overstep. That's the trade off for shooting in shared spaces.

Obviously the creep glasses are a separate issue, but instagram street photography is big and there is overlap that makes this angle worth commenting on. There's a lot of bad advice out there that encourages the worst kind of attitudes.

I actually don't need you to dunkshare the shitty environment art from angry gamer fraud. I would like you to just share cool environment art from indies who give a shit about the craft

Over the past year I've been watching 90s Australian movies set or shot in Sydney for research purposes. Sample People is like a fever dream filled with every "hey isn't that" actor from aussie film and TV.

leah jade@legenette.bsky.social

sample people (2000) came and went without much impact, despite starring some of australia's biggest up-and-coming stars (inc. kylie minogue and ben mendelsohn). here's the creators on the film's impact and why its return after 26 years feels earned:

Last year we had Death Stranding 2, a game allegedly set in Australia with no real interest in Australia. This year we have Big Walk and Pro Jank Footy, two games that are very interested in presenting hyper-specific Australiana to the world. Looking forward to critics I admire engaging with them.
